  • @minatasgeel - agreed, at least a reason was given but that's what I have an issue with, ie when reasons are made up for the sole purpose of invention and modification! @minamakar - absolutely right, until the second quarter of the 5th century the C…
  • Ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲛ ϩⲗⲓ ⲡⲁⲥⲟⲛ @Yoan Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Good point about the creed my teacher @minatasgeel but I have to be honest I am strongly against the synod's reasoning. Dear @WedeYonas ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ means us, while the word for plural you is ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Ϯϣⲉⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧⲕ ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ ⲡⲁⲥⲁϧ @Jojo_Hanna Absolutely right @mabsoota Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • @Jojo_Hanna, Are you referring to the creed on the question of "whole trisagion"? Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Thanks @mabsoota No, ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧ// is a derivative of ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛ literally to mean "from x's hand" so ϯϣⲉⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧⲕ literally means "I accept the grace of your hand", or simply I thank you.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Hi @WedeYonas, I don't know if the trisagion has been converted into Coptic or not, but I know that another member has tried to do it a while ago.. You may search for the thread on another part of this forum. I don't understand what you mean by the …
  • Hi @Yoan, The ones between the glorious feast of the Nativity, 29th of Kiahk, and the glorious feast of the Annunciation, 29th of Baramhat, so basically the two months of Tubah and Amshir.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Dear @zielona,Once again I find myself repeating myself and saying that you are a really great example for many women, let alone Egyptian women, and the Coptic Church is so lucky to have you as a member in Her. And no, I could never damn your husban…
  • Hi @PopeKyrillosHabibi,While I may be mistaken in this point (and I await other well learned people here to correct me) I would argue personally speaking that there are no canons or dogmas defining what things should be included in the confession. P…
  • Hi @zielona,First of all, let me start off by saying that I personally am honoured that you belong to the Coptic Church (now), and I would like to tell you that you are a real asset and a blessing, and a brilliant role model to many Egyptian girls a…
  • Thanks a lot to @mossa012 for the detailed answer.. Just one small point that many people are oblivious to as far high as great servants in the church. The commemoration is much more an assembly for clergyman who passed down the faith, following on …
  • I think that it should be ϯϣⲟⲩⲣⲏ Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • That is exactly right.. He is the person behind the flawed change built on baseless banter and unscientific arguments altogether! Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Wonderful and deep contemplation.. Thank you very much dear @mabsoota Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Dear @ShareTheLord, You make a very good point.. Thanks for this lovely explanation. In Coptic it is singular.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Yes @mabsoota thanks for the explanation.. I also learnt that glorify is a transitive verb so it is a loose translation adding to the issues that you described previously. I guess Arabic is such a bland language that probably has not gone through st…
  • And in addition to what @mabsoota is glorify a transitive only verb or can it be used in an intransitive sense too? Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Yes that is right.. Ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ / ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲁⲃ, or for the definitive words ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ are all adjectives, so technically they don't need to be attached to articles anyway.. There are of course exceptions to every rule.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Thanks @mabsoota for your encouragement.. I think it is just that you are a very keen learner.. Nothing to do with my teaching (if anything I know what I am like.. Hehe) Spirit is masculine, so with the definitive article it will be ⲡⲓⲡ̅ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ,…
  • Hi @mabsoota Am I a mu'alem? Hehe.. I am not so sure about that nowadays.. I have been too distracted to learn Coptic or hymns these days! No it is not like the English example. Coptic words need to be attached to an article, either definitive arti…
  • Not exactly @mabsoota hehe.. Ⲉⲧ/ⲉⲑ is the prefix for the adjective that follows words with definite articles, but ⲉϥ, ⲉⲥ, ⲉⲩ, are prefixes of words that follow words which are not attached to definite articles. Examples: ⲟⲩⲡ̅ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ, ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣⲓⲁ (…
  • Dear @Daniel_Kyrillos, Ⲡⲓ/ϯ are for general uses while ⲡ/ⲫ, ⲧ/ⲑ are for the more special usage, e.g. Ⲫⲓⲱⲧ, ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ as these are words with special significance and their usage is well known without having to use for example ⲛ̀/ⲙ̀/ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ after. The choic…
  • Ⲁⲗⲏⲑⲱⲥ ⲁⲛⲉⲥⲧⲏ dear @Daniel_Kyrillos.. Thanks for this marvellous post.. Despite all you said, yet we hear some empty teachings (luckily enough not Coptic Orthodox) that God is so placid, peaceful, kind-hearted and would not do this to anyone, as if …
  • Dear @minamakar, thanks a lot for your nice words and encouragement.. Dear @Jojo_Hanna, thank you very much for always respecting me this way.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Dear @Jojo_Hanna You know me quite well.. Hehe.. No I was actually agreeing with the connotation of @Archdeacon's statement, ie resentment and regret that this is where we are now. I am not going to expand because I still feel quite bitter about wha…
  • Dear @Archdeacon, Thank you very much for the above.. It makes sense to me now.. You also said "Clearly saving time is important in these times." I would like to say, well said.. And thank you.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • I thought it was 10? Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Very well said @ShareTheLord Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
  • Noooooooooooo, what an unwise decision @Jojo_Hanna.. Hehe.. Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡϭⲥ
