1-5 At home and at school You name things you use every day.
By the end: Read four more letters and the names of a book, a pen, a table and a cup.
New letters
- Ϫ ϫ Janja j before ⲉ, ⲏ, ⲓ or ⲩ and 1 other way: see the letters page
- Ϭ ϭ Chima ch as in church in every word but one and 1 other way: see the letters page
- Ⲍ ⲍ Zita z as in zone
- Ⲫ ⲫ Fi f as in fire
Learn
ϭ is ch as in church. ⲍ is z. ⲫ is f, just like ϥ.
ϫ is j (as in jam) before ⲉ, ⲏ, ⲓ or ⲩ, and a hard g (as in go) anywhere else. So ϫⲓϫ is jig and ϫⲱⲙ is gom.
A thing you can count takes ⲟⲩ before it to mean a or one: ⲟⲩϫⲱⲙ is a book.
Words
- gom ϫⲱⲙ book
- jig ϫⲓϫ hand
- chi ϭⲓ take
- kash ⲕⲁϣ pen
- trapeza ⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ table Church books often write it ⲧ̀ⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ.
- afot ⲁⲫⲟⲧ cup
- anzeeb ⲁⲛⲍⲏⲃ school
- ougom ⲟⲩϫⲱⲙ a book
- oukash ⲟⲩⲕⲁϣ a pen
