The candidate approaches and stands before the sanctuary door without wearing the vestments and with his neck bowed down, while the bishop stands on the step of the sanctuary. Those who nominated him, come before the bishop and prostrate (do a metania) to the bishop on his behalf, and the bishop says to them:

hinaϩⲓⲛⲁ meeposⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ekmohⲉⲕⲙⲟϩ ennenmashgⲛ̀ⲛⲉⲛⲙⲁϣϫ ennee-etsotemⲛ̀ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ erokⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ khenϧⲉⲛ nee-etekoshⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲉⲕⲱϣ emmoouⲙ̀ⲙⲱⲟⲩ eroou:ⲉ̀ⲣⲱⲟⲩ:

For this is a great labor and those who are assigned to it must become like a shining lamp on a lampstand,

أنفاس الله التي أؤْتمنتَ عليها كي تَعِظ بها الشعب.

enthokⲛ̀ⲑⲟⲕ theⲇⲉ entekshopiⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲕϣⲱⲡⲓ enathokimos:ⲛ̀ⲁ̀ⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲟⲥ:

so that when you read to them, your words may fill their ears.

لأن هذا أمر عظيم يحتاج لمَنْ يقوم به أن يكون كالمصباح

allaⲁⲗⲗⲁ ari-efmeviⲁ̀ⲣⲓⲫ̀ⲙⲉⲩⲓ enseeouⲛ̀ⲥⲏⲟⲩ nivenⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ emepsajiⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲥⲁϫⲓ emepshoisⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ϭⲟⲓⲥ etgoⲉⲧϫⲱ emmos:ⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ:

Do not be tempted but always remember at all times the word of the Lord that said,

المضئ على المنارة لكي تملأ مَسامِع سامِعِيكَ مِمَّا تقرأ عليهم،

jeϫⲉ fee-etoshⲫⲏⲉⲧⲱϣ marefkati.ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲕⲁϯ.

“Let the reader understand.”

ولتكن أنت غير مُجَرَّب لكن أذكر في كل حين كلام الرب إذ يقول "فليفهم القارئ."

HoposϨⲟⲡⲱⲥ ounⲟⲩⲛ hitenϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ tekeprokopeeⲧⲉⲕⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲕⲟⲡⲏ ethnanes:ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉⲥ:

So that,

لكي من جهة نُموَّك الحسن،

nemⲛⲉⲙ peki-e-etheeⲡⲉⲕⲓ̀ⲉ̀ⲧ̀ϩⲏ khenϧⲉⲛ paivathmos:ⲡⲁⲓⲃⲁⲑⲙⲟⲥ:

through your good progress

وتقدُمَّك في هذه الدرجة،

ensenavⲛ̀ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲩ etekmetshav:ⲉ̀ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲧϣⲁⲩ:

and your advancements in this rank,

وينظرون نجاحك،

esetiⲉ̀ⲥⲉϯ entipseefismaⲛ̀ϯⲯⲏⲫⲓⲥⲙⲁ kharok:ϧⲁⲣⲟⲕ:

your success may be seen

فيُزَكُّونك

ense-enkⲛ̀ⲥⲉⲉⲛⲕ ejenⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ paivathmosⲡⲁⲓⲃⲁⲑⲙⲟⲥ etchosiⲉⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ ehoteⲉ̀ϩⲟⲧⲉ fai:ⲫⲁⲓ:

and you may be nominated and elevated to the higher rank.

ويقدمونك إلى الدرجة الأعلى،

hinaϩⲓⲛⲁ ounⲟⲩⲛ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ oushoushouⲟⲩϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ shopiϣⲱⲡⲓ ennee-etavenkⲛ̀ⲛⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲁⲩⲉⲛⲕ e-ethmeeti:ⲉ̀ⲑ̀ⲙⲏϯ:

Even better, those who have nominated and presented you to be ordained may boast

الأفضل من هذه،

hosϩⲱⲥ jeϫⲉ kalosⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ avtiⲁⲩϯ epseefismaⲉ̀ⲯⲏⲫⲓⲥⲙⲁ kharokϧⲁⲣⲟⲕ kataⲕⲁⲧⲁ kerosⲕⲉⲣⲟⲥ keⲕⲉ kataⲕⲁⲧⲁ koulothia.ⲕⲟⲩⲗⲟⲑⲓⲁ.

in you and may nominate you again in the appropriate time.

وليفتخر بك الذين قدَّمُوك في الوسط لكونهم يزكونك حسناً بكل زمن كالعادة.
