Liturgy! What does it mean?

topdawg · June 2008

Hey guys and gals,

I want to learn more about the liturgy in church and what everything Abouna does means. I know everything has a meaning and I know a little but I would like to learn a lot more so the liturgy can mean more to me as I sit through it. Any idea as to where I can get information on what the liturgy means step by step from the blessing of the bread to communion and why everything is done the way its done?

Thanks

I have the perfect book for you. It is a very thorough explanation of the rites, traditions, and symbolism of everything done in the liturgy. It is a great book for the deacons so that they are knowledgeable about the liturgy as well as the congregation, remember:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Hosea 4:6

If you would like to buy a copy here is the link to it:

And if you just want to view as a .pdf here is the link to that:

It is the third file from the bottom, Hope I helped, God Bless and pray for my weakness.

It comes from the greek word "Liturgia" meaning the work of the people.
