wats a metropolitan??

i know a bishop is like responsible for an obroshia..but wats a metropolitan i know he's higher than a bishop..wat does he do exactly?

    He's the bishop of a metropolis - big or important city. It's similar to titles such as Arhcbishop or (if the see has received such an honour) Patriarch.
  • ok thanks..!! but wat do you mean an important city..like wat.. i still dont get it all i know is that he's higher than a bishop..but can anyone gimme examples!!

  • it's like the diffrence between priests and hegumens.
    they are basiclly uped bishops for what Orthodox11 said, for being older in there bishoprics and some other reasons.
