Are you a hypocritical ?

edited December 1969 in Faith Issues
One Sunday morning during church service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying submachine guns.

One of the men shouted, "Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are"!

Immediately, the choir fled, the deacons fled, and most of the congregation fled. Out of the 2,000, there only remained around 20.

The man who had spoken took off his hood, looked at the priest and said "Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites". Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!" And the two men turned and walked out.

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God... and then wonder why the world is going to hell! Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. Funny? Alternatively, is it scary?

Funny how someone can say, "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

"Come On Out...Don't Be Scared"

Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and work place.

Funny, isn't it? Funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you are not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

Pray for my week soul.

  • That's so great ;) very meaningful. God bless.
  • Unfortunately, the story has true implications.

The adage that I have coined follows that thought. I use this to differentiate a lot of things that happen in the Church, i.e., what I call the difference between a "Coptic" and an "Egyptian". (yes, I know that coptic means egyptian.)

'An Egyptian is one whose words are more numerous than his actions; and a Coptic is one whose (good) actions are more numerous than his words.'

I have attended too many meetings, with too many words, too many points, and no actions. I think Our Lord has the right to say: 'Where is the fruit?' (Does anyone remember the old Wendy's commercial. This is a take off on that piece of marketing Americana style.)
  • jesus servant, hey im sorry, but those people are not hypocrites, i asked a deacon, and he said people only do this when you reach a spiritual level high enough, buddy im sure most of us carrying thoughts of material things have not reached that spiritual level.
  • Just as a point, St. Apanoub made his declaration at 8 yrs old.

The Thief (at the right hand of the Crucifixion) made his declaration in seconds, because he was moved by the presence of His Savior on the Cross. We recite on Great Friday in the chant "he (meaning the Good Thief) stole the Kingdom and the Paradise of Delight".

Bravery comes from the fortitude and inspiration of the Holy Spirit as long as one is open to the movement of the Holy Spirit in their life.
