Tasbeha during Lent

edited December 1969 in Random Issues
† What are all the differences in tasbeha during the Lenten season?

Comments

  • -The Beginning Ode (After Ten Theeno, before Psali before 1st Hoos)
-Psali Adam and Batos before Hooses and before Commemoration
-Lenten tune for Commemoration of Saints and Lobsh Watos

    There may be something else.
  • During Sundays' Eve:
You may pray the entire lent psalmody with its hoos, psalies and commentaries found here: http://tasbeha.org/hymn_library/cat/82
    Notes:
    - Alli Nos ellil can be said before the Hoos
    - The Hoos can be chanted/read/prayed just like the Kiahk hoos--which all of us know it since all churches say it.
    - The psalies and commentaries are either Adam or watos so when they are chanted, they are to be in the ANNUAL adam or watos tune (Aykouti and afti-emip-onouf).

If you will not do the special psalmody listed above, you have to atleast do the occasional psalies said after the fourth hoos that are said during the weekdays.

The tune of the ten-oweh ensok/Commemoration/doxologies is either the weekdays or weekends accordingly.

    ***In Saturday Vespers praise:
    - Alli el-asr can be said at end of fourth hoos.
    - There are madayeh (short ones) chanted in the weekend tune, 9 in total, 1 chanted after after each part of the theotokia (http://tasbeha.org/hymn_library/cat/300).
    - Commentary of the week can be chanted/read after the theotokia (can be done for vespers praise for the entire week).
  • Thanks a lot! And does the morning doxology also have a different tune?

Is there also audio for the above?
  • Here is a complete Lent Vesper Praise with video by Ibrahim Ayad and the Chorus: Great Lent Vesper Praise led by Cantor Ibrahim Ayad and Deacons of the Clerical College and Didymus Institute
  • At 1 hour and 22 min (after Aretenthonti) I notice that they say the rest of the theotokia similar to the moakab and romi like in kiahk......this is strange. Why do they do this?

thanks for posting the recording....a nice one that i forgot about.
The tune is more like an aretinthonti tune than a kiahk or lent tune.
  • it sounds very kiahky to me...except for the ending. the point is...what the heck is it?
