Agpeya Question

edited December 1969 in Faith Issues
I have been blessed to use the Agpeya as my prayer book even though I am Byzantine Orthodox.

I have a perplexity: in the first hour, just after the Gospel, it says, adressing the True Light..'You saved our forefather Adam from temptation and our mother Eve from the pangs of death..' What does this mean since Adam succumbed to temptation and Eve died ?

Thanks in advance for those who can enlighten me.

  • Addressing the Son.

Addressing the Salvation attained on the Cross.
  • Sorry, can you elucidate.

By Christ's death on the cross, He saved Adam from [the effects of his succumbing to] temptation (ie condemnation), and He saved Eve from spiritual death in Hades also.
