Nonbelievers and the Sacraments

edited December 1969 in Coptic Orthodox Church
If nonbelievers cannot attend the Liturgy of the Believers and witness the Holy Mystery, why are they allowed to attend weddings and baptisms and witness the other sacraments when it is a similar mystery?

  • This was a practice done in the past in the Church but is no longer the case. We have visitors come and they stay throughout the entire liturgy. The only limitation is that they may not partake of the Eucharist unless they are a member of the Orthodox Church. I assume, although I could be wrong, that when nonbelievers were taken out of liturgies, they were also not allowed to be present for weddings or baptisms either
