  It is not perfect or divinely inspired and should be read with discernment ... keep in mind that it is not a single work, but a collection of texts and traditions of which the origins of many are unknown.
  
  Some of the entries are wise and beneficial, while others are questionable. I have heard that the Pope has said that the Synaxarium is in need of fixing up, but I've never heard it come from his own mouth.
