maybe u have a bad 'father' image, like if yr dad himself was ok, maybe u had a horrid male teacher in school or church for example. i think the more u pray the more u get to know God, so the way u address God will alter naturally with time and is not as important as praying itself. btw we occasionally refer to father peter as abouna when we forget he is not arabic ;)

Why not use the Our Father prayer, which our Lord taught us and which is addressed to God our Father?

After all Abouna also means Father. As does Abba, and Papa, and Pope.
