Monastic Wisdom: The Letters of Elder Joseph the Hesychast -

just out of curiousity...the word "Hesychast," does that have anything to do with the virtue of silence??  because i remember reading some things in the philokalia and it mentions hesychasm (silence).

    Hesychia is stillness.

  • The Purpose Driven Life:
What on earth am i here for?

    Rick Warren
  • i loved the book by CS Lewis called A Grief Observed

it is basicaly his sorrow over the death of his wife and the pain he is vary open and transparent and i think thats why i love the book so much

    NESS<><
  • All of C.S. Lewis's books are masterpieces. My favorite is Mere Christianity, but A Problem of Pain is great too. He is a truly great writer.
  • Two AMAZING books i have read are "The Spiritual Man" by H.H. Pope Shenouda III and "every young man, God's man" by Stephen Arterburn. I read the first one for the philly competition and the second in small group. They are both great books about how to live for, by, and with Christ. Especially the second one because it gives a more modern look with common issues found in today's younger generation.

    God Bless :D

    THIS IS A MUST READ
    Father Arseny
    Priest, prisoner, and spiritual Father

This book combines everything you're looking for into 1. You'll love it and it is very easy to read and follow  :D

I must say a big "AMEN!" to SaintaMaria05's post.

Both books about Father Arseny are super.  They are well worth the time and effort to read both in their entirety.

I enjoyed The Person of the Christ by Daniel Fanous.  It presented the story of Christ from a different perspective and was, thus, a thought-provoking read for me.
