An Addiction.

edited December 1969 in Personal Issues
Well, First i would like to say Hi to everyone here. Second, this issue have been bothering me for a long time, and i really want to quit it. I'm addicted to porn. I'm 16 years old, living in the states, and this addiction started about 2 yrs ago. I have tried confessing it to Abona, but every time i try to open the subject i feel ashamed and not talk about. Eventually, i did tell him, but i didn't tell him it was an addiction. I tried to quit many times, but i have failed every time i tried, and i really wanna quit this. Help. Thank you.

    Hope this site help.
    I just want to tell you that you are so precious to God and He loves you so much that He gave His only begotten son away to save me and you.  Don’t give up in your battle. May God gives strength in the midst of weakness and hope in the midst of distress.  Take care and God bless you. I keep you in my prayers.
  • actually, a good site is:

    http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/ ;

    cheeck it...check it out, uh cheah, WHAT?? YEAAAAAAAAAH!!

    p.s. the Bible mentions something about those committing adultery lack judgement...so you can pray to God for that...also, going to church should definitely help, with it being all heavenly like with the smoke and icons and chanting and whatnot...makes u feel humble

    also...tackle it DAY by DAY...just say, just this day i will go on without doing it, and repeat daily...btw, r u just addicted to porn? i would assume ur addicted to something else too...
  • 1 Corinthians 1:18

    "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

    USE IT!

    and listen to this sermon: The Problem of Lust
  • Go to abouna and say it in a subtle way, trust me, abouna's hears this from a lot of people. Tell him you are fought by the devil with bad images that you see and that's been going on for a while and became a big problem. If you feel more comfi write it down and give him a paper.
    Feeling extremely ashamed in front of abouna is a big step in your recovery, because it will make you realise the shame you (should) have before God. Don't think you can't ever say it to abouna, it's a lie from the devil who wants to destroy you from within. Don't give him a chance!!!!!!!!! Make an appointment and tell abouna in advance that it's something you feel very ashamed about, that way once you sit with him you'll have no choice but to tell him, cause he'll be waiting for it! God is waiting for you with open arms and he wants to heal you :)
  • You must tell your Abouna everything in confession because if you don't then no healing can come. Don't worry about feeling ashamed since we should all feel this way with our sins but when they are confessed then healing can come. Just think though, if you can't tell your Abouna something in confession then how will you answer before Christ? It is hard to confess such things but once you do, you will feel better.
