Muhamed's grandfather, Abd EL-Mutaleb, is considered among the Hanafite sect that were monotheists, worshipping the God of Abraham. Muhamed was probably born in the same religion like his uncles and was influenced by the Ibonites practices and later on became on of them.

When Muhamed took over Mekka in the tenth year of his immigration to Madinah, the ordered all icons and idols to be removed from the Ka3bah except the icon of Christ and St. Mary in contrast to the iconoclast mentality of Islam.
