  • Muhamed's grandfather, Abd EL-Mutaleb, is considered among the Hanafite sect that were monotheists, worshipping the God of Abraham. Muhamed was probably born in the same religion like his uncles and was influenced by the Ibonites practices and later on became on of them.

Ramadan, together with the last ten days of Sha3ban, in which he allegedly received the inspiration of the Quran, was the fasting period that was observed before Palm Sunday according to Ibonite tradition. It resembles the 40 days of great lent by other christians. Afterwards, the Ibonite would end his period of seclusion and go 7 times around the Ka3bah on Palm Sunday. Muhamed was in seclusion when he received the alleged inspiration.

Whether he worshipped idols or not is not clear, but there were icons of St. Mary and Christ and John the Baptist in the Ka3bah that was like a universal worship place for all religions and denominations. When Muhamed took over Mekka in the tenth year of his immigration to Madinah, the ordered all icons and idols to be removed from the Ka3bah except the icon of Christ and St. Mary in contrast to the iconoclast mentality of Islam.

If we can just dig in the desert in the Arabic Penninsula we will find a lot of rich details.
