Who's this saint?

Batates74

Hi, I watched a movie a few years ago of a saint who was very beautiful that the emperor wanted to marry her, even when she was a nun. He loved her because of her eyes so she poked them out and handed them to the messenger in a box to present before the emperor. This made the emperor furious and stopped looking for her. meanwhile the nuns at the convent prayed and, during the liturgy, God restored her eyes.

It's a beautiful story that I've been thinking a lot about for some reason... thing is though, I don't know this saint's name. Does anyone here know who this saint is?

thanks

Hezekiel

Thank you Batates74 for letting me know about the great martyr Saint Lucy.
May her precious prayers bless our lives.

GODlovesme, I think there is a play called Saint Lucy's eyes.
A side note: I read she was mentioned in Dante's works?

wow, St. Lucy is a wonderful saint! After reading her story though, I don't think she's the one I was thinking of. The saint that I'm looking for wasn't a martyr and she took her own eyes out and presented them to the emperor because that's what he lusted. She lived in a convent and when the nuns saw this, they prayed for her and God restored her eyes.

I really love her story and hope that someone can tell me who she is... it's been such a long time since I watched her movie!

I tried to find her story somewhere online but the ones I've found are Catholic. Do you have St. Terez's story? Thanks

Ioannes

I love saints like this, I just get confused as to why they are venerated because if someone did this today I highly doubt a single person here would associate themselves with that person.
