The Resurrection Enactment :: تمثلية القيامة

The sanctuary doors (curtain) are closed and the lights of the church are shut. Inside the sanctuary, the priests begin opening the white linen cloth that has the icon of Christ (from the Good Friday Burial) and distribute it to the people at the end of liturgy as a blessing. Meanwhile, the people chant "Kata Nikhouros of the Veil" and "All You Heavenly Orders"

Two deacons stand outside the sanctuary doors with a lit candle and say three times:

Christ is risen.

The elder priest responds from inside the sanctuary each time and says:

Truly He is risen.

The previous declaration may be done multiple times. Then the deacons say the following while knocking on the sanctuary doors:

Lift up your gates, O rulers, and be lifted up, you everlasting doors. (3)

… that the King of glory may enter.

The elder priest asks:

Who is this King of glory?

The deacons answer:

The Lord, the powerful, the strong, the mighty, victorious in battles; He is the King of glory.

Then the doors are opened (or the curtain) and the lights are lit. Then priests and deacons proceed around the altar three times carrying the Resurrection icon, crosses, censers and candles, then the church three times, then the altar one more time, while chanting the Resurrection hymns:
