I (…), the weak, who is called to the grace of the priesthood on the holy altar of the church of (…), in the city of (…).
أنا الضَّعيف (...) المدعو لنعمة الكهنوت على المذبح المقدَّس في كنيسة (...)، حي (...) بمدينة (...).

I pledge before God, the Lord of lords, and the Shepherd of shepherds, and before His angels and saints, and before my father, His Holiness Pope (Tawadros II) [or: before my father, the Metropolitan (Bishop) Abba (…)], and before the clergy and all the people.
أتعهَّد أمام الله ربِّ الأرباب، وراعي الرُّعاة، وأمام ملائكته وقدِّيسيه، وأمام أبي قداسة البابا (تواضروس الثاني) (أو: أمام أبي المطران (أو الأسقف) الأنبا (...))، وأمام الإكليروس وكل الشعب.

to be steadfast in the orthodox faith until the last breath;
بأن أثبُت على الإيمان الأرثوذكسي إلى النَّفَس الأخير.

to respect the canons of the holy Church, and to keep all Her Traditions, rites, and teachings;
وأن أحترم قوانين الكنيسة المقدَّسة، واُحافظ على تقاليدها وطُقوسها وتعاليمها.

to make every effort to teach the people the upright faith, and lead them to a life of holiness and righteousness, and be a role model for them in every good deed.
وأن أبذل كلَّ جهدي في تعليم الشَّعب بإيمان سليم، وقيادته في حياة القداسة والبر، وأكون أنا نفسي قُدوة له في كلِّ عمل صالح.

وأتعهَّد بأن أحب الرَّعيَّة، واُعاملها بالرِّفق والحكمة، وأبذل ذاتي في افتقاد الشَّعب، والاهتمام به من كلِّ ناحية حسب طاقتي.

to search for the lost and seek their return and to gather the scattered sheep of God; to not ignore the helpless, the rejected, nor those who have no one to remember them;
وأن أبحث عن الضَّال وأسعى لردِّه. وأجمع خراف الله المتفرِّقة. ولا أغفل عن العاجزين والمنطرحين والذين ليس لهم أحد يذكرهم.

to be patient and long-suffering in dealing with all people, and to not show partiality towards a chosen group, but be equally concerned for all.
وأن أكون طويل الرُّوح، واسع الصَّدر في معاملة النَّاس. ولا تكون لي منهم جماعة مختارة، بل أهتم بالكُل.

I pledge:
وأتعهَّد بأن أضع صالح الكنيسة فوق كلِّ اعتبار.

to avoid the love of money and loving the greater portion. I will neither exalt myself over the people, nor neglect or overburden them, nor command them to do that which contradicts the commandment [of the Lord], nor reject the repentant when one returns, nor fall short of serving any one of them.
وأن أبعد عن محبَّة المال، وعن محبَّة النَّصيب الأكبر، ولا أتعالى على الشَّعب، ولا أهملهم، ولا أكلِّفهم بما لا يطيقون، ولا آمرهم بما يُخالف الوصيَّة، ولا أرفض التَّائب إذا رجع، ولا أقصِّر في خدمة أحد منهم.

I pledge to submit to the hierarchy of the priesthood represented in the person of His Holiness the Pope and Patriarch, [and his partner in the apostolic ministry, my father, the Metropolitan (Bishop) Abba (…)], along with my respect and reverence to his partners in the apostolic ministry, my fathers the metropolitans and bishops.
وأتعهَّد بأن أخضع لرئاسة الكهنوت، ممثَّلة في قداسة البابا البطريرك (وشريكه في الخدمة الرَّسوليَّة نيافة أبي المطران (أو الأسقف) الأنبا (...))، مع احترامي وتوقيري لشركائه في الخدمة الرَّسوليَّة، الآباء المطارنة والأساقفة.

I ask the Lord to grant me strength through their prayers that I may take on this solemn responsibility and faithfully perform all the duties of the honored priesthood.
وأطلب من الرَّب أن يهبني قوَّة بصلواتهم، حتى أقوم بهذه المسئوليَّة الخطيرة، وأؤدي بأمانة كافة ما يتطلَّبه منِّي عمل الكهنوت الجليل.

Pray for me, my fathers and brothers, the saints.
صلُّوا عنِّي يا آبائي وإخوتي القدِّيسين.

Behold, a prostration before you all.
ها ميطانية لكم جميعاً.

If a candidate is presented to be a presbyter, priests must witness to his good works and knowledge of the doctrine, and to being meek, consoling and merciful, and that his marriage is lawful. If he was not a deacon, he is to first be ordained reader, subdeacon, and deacon, then be blessed on another day. He is to be presented vested as a deacon and an orarion on his left shoulder, on bowed knees before the altar and the bishop, after declaring the previous pledge. A priest stands with the bishop.
إذا أرادوا تقدمة قسِّيس، فليشهد له الكهنة أولاً بأعماله الحسنة، وأنه عارف بكلمة التَّعليم جيداً. وديعاً ومعزِّياً ورحيماً. وأنَّ زيجته كانت على حسب النَّاموس كالقانون. وإن كان مرسوم شمَّاساً، وإلا فليُقسم أغنسطساً، وإيبوذياكوناً، وشمَّاساً، ويُبارَك إلى يوم آخر. ثم يُقدَّم وهو لابس مثل شمَّاس والبطرشيل على كتفه الشَّمال، منحني الركبتين قدَّام المذبح أمام الأسقف بعد أن يتلوا التعهد السابق. ويقف قسِّيس مع الأسقف.

The bishop begins to raise incense and prays the Prayer of Thanksgiving while the verses of the cymbals for the day’s rite may be chanted.
يرفع الأسقف البخور ويقول صلاة الشكر وصلاة البخور ويمكن أن تقال أرباع الناقوس المناسبة لطقس اليوم.

to serve the priesthood of Your holy mysteries,

and do not allow us to participate in strange sins,
ولا تدعنا نشترك في خطايا غريبة،

but rather take away our sins.
بل إمحُ خطايانا.

And give us O our Master to do nothing perverse,
وامنحنا يا سيِّدنا أن لا نصنع المائِلات،

remembering the words of [St.] Peter,
واذكر كلام الرَّئيس بطرس القائل:
jeϫⲉ ni-epresviterosⲛⲓⲡ̀ⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ etkhenⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ theenouⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ tiϯ tihoϯϩⲟ eroouⲉ̀ⲣⲱⲟⲩ anokⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲕ peteneshfeerⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛϣ̀ⲫⲏⲣ emepresviteros:ⲙ̀ⲡ̀ⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ:
the leader, saying, “The presbyters who are among you I exhort,
"القسوس الذين فيكم، أطلب إليهم أنا القس شريكهم،
o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ emmethreⲙ̀ⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ni-emkavhⲛⲓⲙ̀ⲕⲁⲩϩ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ Pi-ekhristosⲠⲓⲭ̀ⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ eneshfeerⲛ̀ϣ̀ⲫⲏⲣ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ epoouⲡ̀ⲱ̀ⲟⲩ ethnachorpⲉⲑⲛⲁϭⲱⲣⲡ evol.ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ.
I who am a fellow presbyter and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:
والشَّاهد على آلام المسيح، والشَّريك في المجد الذي يظهر.
AmoniⲀ̀ⲙⲟⲛⲓ empi-ohiⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲟ̀ϩⲓ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ EfnotiⲪ̀ⲛⲟⲩϯ etkhenⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ theenouⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ eretemjempoushiniⲉ̀ⲣⲉⲧⲉⲙϫⲉⲙⲡⲟⲩϣⲓⲛⲓ khenϧⲉⲛ ouchingonsⲟⲩϭⲓⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ an:ⲁⲛ:
Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, visiting it not by compulsion but willingly,
ارعوا رعيَّة الله التي دُفعت إليكم، تعاهدوهم لا بالظُّلم، لكن بإرادة قلب في الله وبطول روح.
allaⲁⲗⲗⲁ khenϧⲉⲛ o-o-oshⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ enheetⲛ̀ϩⲏⲧ kataⲕⲁⲧⲁ EfnotiⲪ̀ⲛⲟⲩϯ nemⲛⲉⲙ ourooutfⲟⲩⲣⲱⲟⲩⲧϥ enheet:ⲛ̀ϩⲏⲧ:
in God, and eagerly;
وليس كأنَّكم مسلَّطين على المواريث.
hosϩⲱⲥ anⲁⲛ eretenoiⲉ̀ⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ enshoisⲛ̀ϭⲟⲓⲥ eni-ekleeros:ⲉ̀ⲛⲓⲕ̀ⲗⲏⲣⲟⲥ:
nor as being lords over those entrusted to you,
بل كونوا مثالاً للرَّعيَّة،
allaⲁⲗⲗⲁ aritiposⲁ̀ⲣⲓⲧⲩⲡⲟⲥ empi-ohi:ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲟ̀ϩⲓ:
but being examples to the flock;
لكي إذا ظهر رئيس الرَّعاة،
hinaϩⲓⲛⲁ afshanowonhⲁϥϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ evolⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ enjeⲛ̀ϫⲉ PigogⲠⲓϫⲱϫ emmanesoou:ⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲛⲉ̀ⲥⲱⲟⲩ:
and when the Chief Shepherd appears,
تأخذون إكليل المجد غير المضمحل" (1 بطرس 5 :
tetennachiⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϭⲓ empi-eklomⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲭ̀ⲗⲟⲙ enatlomⲛ̀ⲁⲧⲗⲱⲙ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ epoou.ⲡ̀ⲱ̀ⲟⲩ.
you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away” (1 Peter 5:1-4).

Therefore,
كن عاملاً بالوزنة التي ائتمنت عليها،
ethrekteeifⲉⲑⲣⲉⲕⲧⲏⲓϥ efkeeb:ⲉϥⲕⲏⲃ:
work with the talent that was entrusted to you that you may give it double-fold,
لتعطيها مضاعفة،
hinaϩⲓⲛⲁ entekchiⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲕϭⲓ empivekeⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲃⲉⲭⲉ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ pisaveⲡⲓⲥⲁⲃⲉ emvokⲙ̀ⲃⲱⲕ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ empistos.ⲙ̀ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ.
so that you may be given the reward of the wise and faithful servant,
لتأخذ أجر العبد الحكيم الأمين.

gathering your people for the word of teaching, as a caretaker tends to her children,
وتجمع شَّعبك على كلمة التَّعليم، مثل مربِّية تُربِّي بنيها،
ethreknahmekⲉⲑⲣⲉⲕⲛⲁϩⲙⲉⲕ nemⲛⲉⲙ nee-etsotemⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ erok.ⲉ̀ⲣⲟⲕ.
that you may save yourself and those who hear you.
لتخلُص أنت والذين يسمعونك.
