The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
بَدْءُ إِنْجِيلِ يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ ابْنِ اللَّهِ:
KataⲔⲁⲧⲁ efreetiⲫ̀ⲣⲏϯ eteskheeoutⲉⲧⲥ̀ϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ khenϧⲉⲛ Eesa-eeasⲎ̀ⲥⲁⲏ̀ⲁⲥ pi-eprofeetees:ⲡⲓⲡ̀ⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ:
As it is written in the Prophets:
كَمَا هُو مَكْتُوبٌ فِي الأَنْبِيَاءِ:
jeϫⲉ heeppeϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ anokⲁ̀ⲛⲟⲕ tinaoworpϯⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲣⲡ empangelosⲙ̀ⲡⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ kha-etheeϧⲁⲧ̀ϩⲏ empekhoⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕϩⲟ fee-ethnasovtiⲫⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲥⲟⲃϯ empekmoitⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲕⲙⲱⲓⲧ khagok.ϧⲁϫⲱⲕ.
"Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You." "The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
«هَا أَنَا أُرْسِلُ أَمَامَ وَجْهِكَ مَلاَكِي الَّذِي يُهَيِّئُ طَرِيقَكَ قُدَّامَكَ.
EpekhroouⲠ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲱⲟⲩ empetoshⲙ̀ⲡⲉⲧⲱϣ evolⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ hiϩⲓ epshafeⲡ̀ϣⲁϥⲉ jeϫⲉ sevteⲥⲉⲃⲧⲉ efmoitⲫ̀ⲙⲱⲓⲧ emepshoisⲙ̀Ⲡ̀ⲟ̅ⲥ̅ soutonⲥⲟⲩⲧⲱⲛ nefma-enmoshi.ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲛ̀ⲙⲟϣⲓ.
"Prepare the way of the LORD;
صَوْتُ صَارِخٍ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ: أَعِدُّوا طَرِيقَ الرَّبِّ اصْنَعُوا سُبُلَهُ مُسْتَقِيمَةً».
AfshopiⲀϥϣⲱⲡⲓ theⲇⲉ enjeⲛ̀ϫⲉ YoanneesⲒⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ pireftiomsⲡⲓⲣⲉϥϯⲱⲙⲥ hiϩⲓ epshafeⲡ̀ϣⲁϥⲉ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ efhioishⲉϥϩⲓⲱⲓϣ enowomsⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲱⲙⲥ emmetanoiaⲙ̀ⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ khenϧⲉⲛ oukoⲟⲩⲭⲱ evolⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ hannovi.ϩⲁⲛⲛⲟⲃⲓ.
Make His paths straight."' John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
كَانَ يُوحَنَّا يُعَمِّدُ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ وَيَكْرِزُ بِمَعْمُودِيَّةِ التَّوْبَةِ لِمَغْفِرَةِ الْخَطَايَا.
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ navneeouⲛⲁⲩⲛⲏⲟⲩ evolⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ harofϩⲁⲣⲟϥ enjeⲛ̀ϫⲉ naⲛⲁ ti-ioude-aϯⲒⲟⲩⲇⲉⲁ̀ teersⲧⲏⲣⲥ enkhoraⲛ̀ⲭⲱⲣⲁ nemⲛⲉⲙ naⲛⲁ YerousaleemⲒⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ teerou:ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ:
Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem,
وَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعُ كُورَةِ الْيَهُودِيَّةِ وَأَهْلُ أُورُشَلِيمَ
o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ navchiomsⲛⲁⲩϭⲓⲱⲙⲥ entotfⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧϥ khenϧⲉⲛ piordaneesⲡⲓⲒⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ eniaroⲛ̀ⲓⲁⲣⲟ evowonhⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ennounoviⲛ̀ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲃⲓ evol.ⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗ.
went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
وَاعْتَمَدُوا جَمِيعُهُمْ مِنْهُ فِي نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ مُعْتَرِفِينَ بِخَطَايَاهُمْ.
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ YoanneesⲒⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ nareⲛⲁⲣⲉ hanfoiϩⲁⲛϥⲱⲓ engamoulⲛ̀ϫⲁⲙⲟⲩⲗ etoiⲧ̀ⲟⲓ hiotfϩⲓⲱⲧϥ peⲡⲉ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ efmeerⲉϥⲙⲏⲣ enoumogkhⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲙⲟϫϧ ensharⲛ̀ϣⲁⲣ ejenⲉ̀ϫⲉⲛ teftipiⲧⲉϥϯⲡⲓ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ nafowemⲛⲁϥⲟⲩⲉⲙ eshjeϣ̀ϫⲉ peⲡⲉ nemⲛⲉⲙ evioⲉ̀ⲃⲓⲱ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ etkoi.ⲧ̀ⲕⲟⲓ.
Now John was clothed with camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
وَكَانَ يُوحَنَّا يَلْبَسُ وَبَرَ الإِبِلِ وَمِنْطَقَةً مِنْ جِلْدٍ عَلَى حَقَوَيْهِ وَيَأْكُلُ جَرَاداً وَعَسَلاً بَرِّيّاً.
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ nafhioishⲛⲁϥϩⲓⲱⲓϣ efgoⲉϥϫⲱ emmosⲙ̀ⲙⲟⲥ jeϫⲉ efneeouϥ̀ⲛⲏⲟⲩ menensoiⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱⲓ enjeⲛ̀ϫⲉ fee-etgorⲫⲏⲉⲧϫⲟⲣ ehoteroi:ⲉ̀ϩⲟⲧⲉⲣⲟⲓ:
And he preached, saying,
وَكَانَ يَكْرِزُ قَائِلاً:
fee-eteⲫⲏⲉ̀ⲧⲉ enti-emepshaⲛ̀ϯⲙ̀ⲡ̀ϣⲁ anⲁⲛ egovstⲉ̀ϫⲟⲃⲥⲧ e-ekhreeⲉ̀ϧ̀ⲣⲏⲓ etiowoⲉ̀ϯⲟⲩⲱ̀ enoumouserⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩⲥⲉⲣ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ pefthooui.ⲡⲉϥⲑⲱⲟⲩⲓ̀.
"There comes One after me who is mightier than I,
«يَأْتِي بَعْدِي مَنْ هُو أَقْوَى مِنِّي الَّذِي لَسْتُ أَهْلاً أَنْ أَنْحَنِيَ وَأَحُلَّ سُيُورَ حِذَائِهِ.
AnokⲀ̀ⲛⲟⲕ aitiomsⲁⲓϯⲱⲙⲥ notenⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ khenϧⲉⲛ oumoou:ⲟⲩⲙⲱⲟⲩ:
whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
أَنَا عَمَّدْتُكُمْ بِالْمَاءِ
EnthofⲚ̀ⲑⲟϥ theⲇⲉ efnaemsⲉϥⲛⲁⲉⲙⲥ theenouⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ khenϧⲉⲛ ou-epnevmaⲟⲩⲠ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ efowab.ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ.
I indeed baptized you with water,
وَأَمَّا هُو فَسَيُعَمِّدُكُمْ بِالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ».
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ asshopiⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ khenϧⲉⲛ ni-ehoouⲛⲓⲉ̀ϩⲟⲟⲩ ete-emmavⲉ̀ⲧⲉⲙ̀ⲙⲁⲩ afiⲁϥⲓ̀ enjeⲛ̀ϫⲉ IeesousⲒⲏ̅ⲥ̅ evolkhenⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ NazarethⲚⲁⲍⲁⲣⲉⲑ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ tighalile-aϯⲄⲁⲗⲓⲗⲉⲁ̀ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ afchiomsⲁϥϭⲓⲱⲙⲥ khenϧⲉⲛ piordaneesⲡⲓⲒⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ eniaroⲛ̀ⲓⲁⲣⲟ entotfⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧϥ enyoannees.ⲛ̀Ⲓⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ.
but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
وَفِي تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ جَاءَ يَسُوعُ مِنْ نَاصِرَةِ الْجَلِيلِ وَاعْتَمَدَ مِنْ يُوحَنَّا فِي الأُرْدُنِّ.
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ satotfⲥⲁⲧⲟⲧϥ efneeouⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ e-epshoiⲉ̀ⲡ̀ϣⲱⲓ evolkhenⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ pimoouⲡⲓⲙⲱⲟⲩ afnavⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ enifeeouiⲉ̀ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩⲓ̀ eavfokhⲉ̀ⲁⲩⲫⲱϧ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ pi-epnevmaⲡⲓⲠ̀ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ emefreetiⲙ̀ⲫ̀ⲣⲏϯ enouchrompiⲛ̀ⲟⲩϭⲣⲟⲙⲡⲓ efneeouⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ epeseetⲉ̀ⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ o-wohⲟⲩⲟϩ afohiⲁϥⲟ̀ϩⲓ higof.ϩⲓϫⲱϥ.
And immediately, coming up from the water,
وَلِلْوَقْتِ وَهُو صَاعِدٌ مِنَ الْمَاءِ رَأَى السَّمَاوَاتِ قَدِ انْشَقَّتْ
O-wohⲞⲩⲟϩ ou-esmeeⲟⲩⲥ̀ⲙⲏ asshopiⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ evolkhenⲉ̀ⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ nifeeoui:ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩⲓ̀:
He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.
وَالرُّوحَ مِثْلَ حَمَامَةٍ نَازِلاً عَلَيْهِ.
jeϫⲉ EnthokⲚ̀ⲑⲟⲕ peⲡⲉ PasheeriⲠⲁϣⲏⲣⲓ PamenritⲠⲁⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧ etaitimatiⲉ̀ⲧⲁⲓϯⲙⲁϯ enkheetf.ⲛ̀ϧⲏⲧϥ.
Then a voice came from heaven,
وَكَانَ صَوْتٌ مِنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ:
(Pi-oou(Ⲡⲓⲱ̀ⲟⲩ faⲫⲁ pennotiⲡⲉⲛⲚⲟⲩϯ pe.ⲡⲉ.
"You are My beloved Son,
«أَنْتَ ابْنِي الْحَبِيبُ
ShaϢⲁ enehⲉ̀ⲛⲉϩ enteⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ni-enehⲛⲓⲉ̀ⲛⲉϩ teerouⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ameen.ⲁ̀ⲙⲏⲛ.
in whom I am well pleased."
الَّذِي بِهِ سُرِرْتُ!».
