• Sorry I'm late! One useful piece of advice given me by a monk, he said treat distractions as you would ping pong balls- bat them away! Don't beat yourself up when distractions come, just carry on with above advice. The Lord bless your endeavours.
• Sorry, can you elucidate.
• Having read books about Tamav Ireni I was keen to venerate her tomb in Cairo which I did. I was also able to tell HH Pope Shenouda personally about my devotion to her. She is a very inspiring person and you can find videos on Youtube. Great inspir…

•
^I have read before that our own Holy Orthodox Monastic Fathers have read "The Ladder" by St. John Climacus for spiritual edification (especially in Armenia), not just nowa…
• As a fellow EO it was a case of falling for the bride's sisters. I only heard of OO after I joined the Russian church!
• The English speaking hermit looks like Abuna Elia from the photo in Journey Back to Eden.
• It was good to see Fr Matta nearly thirty years before his repose. Has anyone read Fr matta's book The Titles of Christ and can lets know what you thought of it?
• Sorry to keep bringing this up: last Sunday in my EO church we honoured the seven ecumenical councils which we see as defining our faith (that was what our priest said in his homily). Now the OO accepts only the first three of those councils. You ha…
• I'm trying to keep this brief if I may for my own clarification. Part of the self identification of the EO church is that it is the Church of the Seven Councils. The OO churches accept only three councils. It seems to me that this fact cannot be wa…
• I made the mistake of writing my reply on the iPhone and made a bit of a hash. Now its been promoted to limbo anyway but I'd like to express my thoughts even if they remain unanswered. As I said , I've been 'baptised' three times in my life. Which …
• I was baptised in the Anglican church as a babe, 'conditionally rebaptised' into the Roman church when I was a teenager and prudentially baptised by total immersion when I became Orthodox in late life. When the Russian monastery church I attended …
• I left a few flyers and made an announcement on your behalf at the Grapevine Fellowship on Wednesday. I'll pray for a good response!
• May I recommend Pope Shenouda's short book about Jonah. In Christ Aidan

• As I understand it, it is Christ who is innocent and he represents us who are in Him by Holy Baptism and Holy Communion primarily. It's not our innocence but His.
• When I was a lot younger the last thing the (Catholic) priest said was 'Ite, missa est', 'Go, you are dismissed'. That's where the word mass comes from. Please, Copts, don't use that word. It just the wrong word for your liturgy. Thanks!
•
I would recommend reading "The Soul after Death" by Father Seraphim Rose.  He discusses this in his book, in a very detailed and clear manner.
Many Ea…
• Apart from the mystery of why there is something rather than nothing. Why I'm here writing when I could easily not exist, is enough for me to be getting on with when it comes to the reading about our creation. I am one those people scoffed at by th…
• Good question. The saint I look forward to meeting in heaven is an Irish saint , Aidan. He evangelised parts of northern Britain in the 7th century. You can read about him in St Bede's 'Ecclesiastical History' where he comes over as a thoroughly goo…

• That Christ is a historical figure I think even an atheist would agree. The evidence of the early Christian writings, mainly the gospels point to a real person. This is reinforced by the evidence of other writers (Josephus et al)and the unbroken tra…
• The book of Revelation is not used for liturgical worship in the EOC and the Fathers offer warnings against private interpretations. I believe the Copts read it in its entirety at Pascha. Is this correct and why such differences?
• Christians, of course, are enjoined to love all men. For those who hate and feel their hate is justified, I would recommend them to follow Bishop Angaelos on twitter and decide whether they belong to the Christian faith or merely a culture.
• Christ is risen! .....so lets return to talking about translations of the Agbeya,Agpaya or whatever (I believe its hard to discriminate the b and p sounds in Arabic). Can I put a 'bid' in for the 'Agpia' published by C.O.P.T. in Australia and used…
• Can anyone help me! I'm just reading a book about the disputation between St Maximos the Confessor and one Pyrrhus. Apparently Maximos had it in for St Severus. He called those with similar beliefs severians. I know I'm wading in too deep but I …
• The commentary in The Orthodox Study Bible would seem to agree with Metropolitan Bishoy. Can anyone clarify what Fr Matta's view was. The reason I ask is that I have read and re read a difficult collection of writings of his under the heading The T…

• I have recently been attending the only Eastern Orthodox church in London, England which has a liturgy entirely in English. Let me repeat, the only one. I discovered that the Coptic church in London has fortnightly liturgies in English and a layman…

• As far as I know the Americans are the only nation in the world to abbreviate dates in that way. To the rest of the world Sept 11th 2001 is 11/9/01. The Earthquake 10/3/11. Add them together and you get a different result. So, as Fr Peter says its b…
