We do not inherit a corrupt nature, we inherit a mortal and corruptible nature.

Can you go for a regular walk in the morning to get your father a newspaper or a pint of milk? I used to have to pray the Agpeya on my drive to work in the morning, and that worked out well as I was in a quiet place, but I also always enjoy praying …

Olive oil is oil made from olives. Corn or palm or rapeseed or vegetable oils are made from other sources.
-
I am not sure what you mean by not doubting anything? We must be careful not to make a state of 'not having any doubt' the goal of our lives. The goal of our lives is to acquire the Holy Spirit. Are we doing those things which will allow us to be gr…

Off the top of my head I think he says that we should abstain from olive oil and be sparing in using substitutes.
-
Olive oil is considered to have the same properties as animal products. We should always follow the instructions of our foc but there is value in abstaining from olive oil while using other oils. I think HH speaks about abstaining from olive oil.

I always give the peace to all before it is shared among the congregation. I begin with those serving in the altar and then the laity.
-
Aidan, I always thought that the EO only fasted from olive oil? That is what HE Met Kallistos Ware says.
-
DimyanCoptic, I think you misunderstand me. The general rule (modified in one way or another by our spiritual fathers) is that we abstain from all meat and dairy products during the Fast, but also that we fast (that is, do not eat at all) until a …

Do you eat all day I meant. or do you break your fast at 3pm or 5pm or whenever? It's true we eat carbohydrates, but if we eat later then we don't eat so much.
-
Stavro, If you think that I am soft on error then you have never done the basics of reading my posts or finding out my views on anything. That I disagreed with your post means only that I felt you were personally offensive. I am moderating your …
-
Why do you think that might be? What are you tending to eat, and when do you try to break your fast?

[Moderator: I deleted it because it was unnecessarily and personally offensive]

Well it is easy for whole generations to become confused and the enemy of our souls is straining with all his energy to corrupt the Church. We have seen that a modern Westernised corrupt iconography has also become popular among Orthodox Christians,…

Do let me urge every one of us to read this book by His Holiness for our salvation.

Do we allow infiltration of different people and ideas so that we can expand the church? The answer must simply be yes. Of course people are welcome, but non-Orthodox ideas have NEVER been welcome and there must be no infiltration of them. I am so…

Sorry mabsoota, but no Protestant Churches have correct theology. The Eastern Orthodox corresponded with both Lutheran and Reformed Protestants in the past centuries, long before modern evangelicals, and rejected their teachings as error.
-
Hi dzerhemi I was disagreeing with this... Why do we care if Orthodox visit Protestant places, if it does not affect their salvation? I do not believe that Protestants or anyone are beyond God's care, and do not take an exclusive view of God's gr…

Of course it affects people's salvation. Orthodoxy is the truth, to deny this is not to be Orthodox at all.
-
I agree with TITL's list. There are lots of places these songs can be found if someone really wants to find them. They should not be on an Orthodox site.
-
Find all those people who have needs and pray for them as a ministry of the youth. Regularly and earnestly.

Sorry, where did I say that apologetics is futile? Please don't put words in my mouth. If you read my post you will see that I said that what is required is substantial material not just a 2 minute sound bite.
-
I am not sure I agree that producing 2 minute videos will achieve a lot. I am already engaged in educating and explaining our faith. Much of it cannot be reduced to a 2 minute answer. Those Protestants who are interested in understanding Orthodox …

Why say that I attack Protestants? How is that fair, true or kind?

It's not up to me. It's up to God to find the support I need to be able to do these things. If God does not provide the support then it is impossible to fit everything in to the time available. That is just a fact.
-
The problem is that HG does not have the time, and he is already working full time. I am not supported to work full time on this so I don't have the time. Pray for me that God will provide the support I need to be able to do this full time and I w…

But we are responding. Have you joined the Orthodox Purity facebook group?
-
This is definitely NOT an Orthodox or even a Catholic site so I would prefer that their materials not be posted, and I would prefer that Orthodox Christians do not access it without discussing it with their priests. Here is what they say about the C…

Yes, Aidan, that is true.

I would suggest reading the Spirituality of Fasting by His Holiness, which is readily available online.. http://tasbeha.org/content/hh_books/fasting/index.html Food is most certainly not acceptable for the fast if there is milk or egg as a product…
