Book of the Holy Liturgy of Saint Cyril

edited December 1969 in Hymns Discussion
This is the Book of the Holy Liturgy of Saint Cyril, in English, Coptic & Arabic, 2nd edd.
It is PDF file for printing as a book in 94 Pages + the Cover, paper size is half legal (7.0" x 8.5")

We added it to the web site of the church. The book could be reached directly at
http://www.stmaryottawa.org/Liturgy_of_St_Cyril.pdf

There are two common versions of St. Cyril's Liturgy. The "old version" differs in its sequence from both Sts. Basil's and Gregory's liturgies. Our Church prefers the more recent version, which also happens to be the version of preference for His Grace, the reposed Anba Youannis, Bishop of Gharbiya, Egypt. The various parts of this recent version are easier to follow, and are in the same sequence, mentioned earlier, of the liturgies according to Sts. Basil and Gregory. Briefly, it starts by the "Prayer of Reconciliation", which is then followed by the "Anaphora", "Meet and Right", "Agios", "Benedictions", "Litanies", "Commemoration of the Saints", "Diptych of the Dead", "Fraction", and "Confession".

    1 question, where's the coptic?
  • also this english is the old english that is hard to understand. there is a translation that the southern diocease have, why not use it instead.
  • who should we look at for the best reference for the tunes of this liturgy?

    NONE of a right source

only two hymns were saved and recorded of it. and u'll find it with Wagdi Bishara's St. Gregory's Liturgy
  • Do all priests like choose the tune they want to use or something?
    And which two hymns?

well the thing is that there was nothing left of the liturgy. all the tunes were. and the only 2 r the ones found here:

    http://tasbeha.org/mp3/Divine_Liturgies/Wagdi_Bishara,_Instructional_Liturgy_of_St_Gregory.html

on this link, there 2 files called :
    Introduction to Commemoration Cyril
    Okouti Anon Cyril

now there was a liturgy that Abouna Mettias of HICS have recorded but i personally don't agree with it. you can find it on the liturgy section here to. now that's all for coptic, i don't think there is that mcuh priests who would praye the liturgy in coptic. the liturgy is very spiritual and most priest just want to enjoy and understand the words .
