Thanks in Coptic

Dear all,
I am aware of some people propagating flawed Coptic teachings which I have a strong stance against and these teachings need to be corrected. I therefore ask you all to refrain from saying ϣⲉⲡϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ when you finish writing any paragraph. This expression is an imperative verb to instruct someone to "thank". It does not mean anything. Thank who? Thank what?
However, if one would want to say something along the lines of "with thanks", "مع الشكر", then one needs to say ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ. To say "I thank" only ϣⲉⲡϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ would still be wrong - the verb ought to be "ϯϣⲉⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ" and even in that case it is incomplete and incorrect. Ϣⲉⲡϩ̀ⲙⲟⲧ literally means "accept grace" without an article, eg "from", hence it has to be followed by "ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧ//".

  • i understood this post!
    :-O
and i think `ntot means 'all' (or something like that, i am still a beginner!)
thanks, ophadece for your lesson :)
  • Thanks @mabsoota
No, ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧ// is a derivative of ⲛ̀ⲧⲉⲛ literally to mean "from x's hand" so ϯϣⲉⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛ̀ⲧⲟⲧⲕ literally means "I accept the grace of your hand", or simply I thank you..
