Judges 1:19

"And the Lord was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron."

This verse sounds like its saying that even though the Lord was with judah he couldnt drive out the inhabitants of the valley because they had chariots of iron. Can anyone explain this verse?

  • Maybe it is an example that God had separated a 'gentile' nation for himself even way back then. Could be God wanted the people in the valley to be converted not conquered. We just know God's judgements are for the best and we have to trust that whatever happens, happens for the good of all mankind.
