  • Great news everyone. We now have writings of the Fathers on orthodoxebooks.org. We have Stuff from St. Gregory the Wonder Worker, Saint Ignatius the disciple of St. John and Bishop of Antioch, St. Polycarp another disciple of St. John and Bishop of Smyrnaea(the persecuted church in Revelation). We also have works from St. Irenaus the disciple of St. Polycarp, St. Clement of Rome, and St. Clement of Alexandria. There are also others on the site, and we have many more being processed. Hopefully they can be of help.

There is also a nice feature on the site that searches all of the books we have uploaded. It is under the search tab at the top of the page and has been of great help to me personally. You could use it for example to search Intercessions and see what the fathers wrote about it, and writings about it from the present day, or to search evolution and see the Church Leaders standpoint on it. I hope it can be of help to you all.

I also have one request of everyone, and that is to pray for this site, that God may bless it, and use it to bring people to him.

  • God Bless your efforts and may your site be the light in the internet world. lol.
  • Great news everyone. We uploaded some writings of St. Gregory the Wonder Worker; St. Dionysius, Pope of Alexandria; St. Theophilus, Pope of Alexandria; St. Peter I, Pope of Alexandria, and God willing we'll have more coming. Don't forget to pray that God can use this service, and that God prosper us for: "Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, he watchman stays awake in vain."
Also pray that I personally should care more for God prospering the service, then for my work on it.

Also if you want to help with the site, check out the Get Involved Page
    http://www.orthodoxebooks.org/getinvolved

  • this site still amazes lol, good job
  • More great news. Through your prayers we have put up mobi, pdf, and epub files next to a small few of the ebooks on the site. God willing we'll eventually have them all. The site also now has an ereaders tab which goes through how to put the books on ereaders or ipods/ipads, so you can carry them around with you. We only have one mobi file right now (used to read on ereaders), but have a couple of epubs which can be used to read on ipods using stanza. We have all of the files and are just working on putting them all on the site.

The instructions on what to do are here: http://www.orthodoxebooks.org/ereaders, and should help you put them on your device. Also if there is a problem on the site (book not uploaded correctly, which is probably my fault) click the contact us tab and let us know about it.

Please pray that this will help people, and that it could be a blessing.

    Update

Sorry for all my updates but we now have 15 books with pdf, mobi, and epub files uploaded on the site

Hi guys. Was wondering if anyone has and can email me or lead me a link with a pdf version of "Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans" by Fr. Tadros Malaty?

    Much appreciated!

    GBU

  • Hello all my brothers in Christ,

I am pleased to announce that by God's grace, we've uploaded PDF files for almost all books by Pope Shenouda, and Fr. Tadros Malaty. God willing we'll have all the PDF files up very soon. Please continue in your prayers for us, and that God uses this service. If God doesn't prosper us, we labor in vain. Please pray, not that the site is succesful, but that God's will is done with it.

    Pray for me,
    Anba Bola
  • We are pleased to announce that the site was officially launched Sunday 10/27 by H.G. Bishop Suriel. I will add the link to the video of it as soon as it is uploaded.

Please pray for me and for the site,
    Anba Bola
  • Anba Bola, thank you for this wonderful website. If we do not make use of it, we have no one,but only ourselves to blame.May God reward you and bless all your efforts.
  • Thanks so much for the many Bible commentaries by Fr Tadros! Every time I go to Egypt i try looking for new books, but it seems they dont print the new ones anymore. But PDF's are fine lol, im really happy we have all the gospel's complete + the acts + most of St Paul's Epistles :D:D:D
Just one minor questions, why are some words marked yellow in the recent books? Are they still preliminary editions?
And the introduction to the gospel of Matthew is missing, it starts right away with chapter 1 :( anyone?
  • Hey Hos Erof,

Which books have some words marked yellow?

We seem to be having some problems with Fr. Tadros Malaty's commentaries i.e. page numbers don't match up with the indexes etc.

We need all your prayer's and help guys as we are experiencing minor, but potentially problematic difficulties right now. (If you want to help go to http://www.orthodoxebooks.org/getinvolved, and another great way of helping is just by reporting errors or problems)

  • anba bola,

If you want a helping hand to convert some PDF to EPUB I can try to help you if it works out so I have to test the result on one file 1st (one PDF you chose and the PDF cannot be a scanned book the formatted full text version is required).

There is a free PALM reader I recently discovered:

    Plucker
    http://www.plkr.org/
    compatibility: all OS
    (also see its screenshots)

  • Hey John_S2000,

I don't think we need so much help with converting them as we found an automatic converter that automatically did all of them at the same time. We do need help in editing them though, or uploading them to the site, and there is no shortage of other things that we need help in. If you'd like to help out with that or anything else, just send an email to orthodoxebooks.org and hopefully the site director will be more helpful than me.

Thank you very much for letting me know about the Palm reader. This will be very helpful and God willing we'll post the steps to use it on the site.

    pray for me,
    Anba Bola

  • anba bola,

You're right there are many converters to EPUB, one is free:
    Calibre
    http://calibre-ebook.com/

There is also an (almost) free program that can read PDF files on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
    GoodReader by Good.iWare
    http://www.goodiware.com/goodreader.html

What kind of editing is needed for the PDFs?

    Hey Hos Erof,

Which books have some words marked yellow?

As for the Gospel of Matthew, there is a version w/ the intro here: http://thealpha.org/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=27&view=finish&cid=564&catid=127. I will try to get this on the site.

We seem to be having some problems with Fr. Tadros Malaty's commentaries i.e. there are some better versions, page numbers don't match up with the indexes etc.

We need all your prayer's and help guys as we are experiencing minor, but potentially problematic difficulties right now. (If you want to help go to http://www.orthodoxebooks.org/getinvolved, and another great way of helping is just by reporting errors or problems)

    hi anba bola,

thanks for your reply. I skimmed through some of the pdf's and on a quick look i only found the commentary on the Gospels of Matthew and Luke to have some yellow marked words. It's not really an issue, I was just wondering what the reason was.
I'd really like to have the introduction on the gospel of St Matthew, but for some reason I get an error when I click on the link that you provided. Could you be so kind to email me the .pdf. I'll pm you my email adress!
I will report any error, and send any missing existing pdf's by Fr Tadros I might have! I might have some more minor prophets commentaries.
  • Hey guys,

The vidoe of H.G. Bishop Suriel's launching of the site has been uploaded and is here: http://www.orthodoxebooks.org/launch

I'd also like to apologise for the faulty link I posted, and because I just figured out that there is in fact no other version of the Gospel of St. Matthew.

It would be great, though, if you send any books that are currently on the site.

    [hr]

    Hey John_S2000,

thanks for the link to the ipod pdf reader. I'll try to let the site director know about it. As for what type of editing is needed, you'll have to email the site director (email is [email protected]), as all I know about this is that he said there is editing going on.
  • Hello all,

I have great news for all that read Arabic. We are adding an arabic orthodoxebooks. Through your prayers God sent laborers from Egypt who have many books they want to upload, and who are working on the Orthodoxebooks. It is not completely ready yet, but I thought to let you all know so you can keep it in your prayers.

The link is ar.orthodoxebooks.org, and it only has two books right now, but God willing there will be many many more books in the future. Please pray for this service and that God may use it.

    Please pray for me,
