@ophadece.
I think that interpretation of "the meaning hasn't been lost" is a bit far fetched. The entire psalm is divided up into stanzas to be sung the way it is sung through out the year in all occasions. ALL incidents in which there is a refrain…
There is nothing "wrong" here. It's a very basic development of rites:- There is a long tune for the kiahk psalm 150- There is a short tune since the previous is really not the easiest- A refrain was created recently for the short tune and was appro…
The official liturgy book that is accepted by the synod is Fr. Abdelmessieh elmassoudi El barmosi. It says, Ϯⲛⲁϩϯ = I believe = أؤمن. That's it. It's that simple. Typo or not, that's what we ought to say.
I think you are still confused. The word gom is a feminine word. Itself is a feminine word and it doesn't refer to Christ, but the glory is for Christ here. It's hard to get that for English speaker since we don't have conjugation for feminine or ma…
the prefix here is really the article for the word. Ϯⲡⲁⲣⲑⲉⲛⲟⲥ refers to "the female virgin"...hence the Ϯ. Ϯϫⲟⲙ here means "the power" and the word power here is feminine.
You cannot use custom fonts on Google docs, so this wouldn't work for Coptic since all the text is really just English letters with Coptic letters "faces"

There need not be a hymn that is more authentic or another less. It's not about which is "right" or "wrong"... it's about learning the source and the developments of the hymns and rites.
I have never heard that "Tawfik rakebha on his sherat." to me this sounds as ignorant as "the sehidic sherat is different than the bohairic sherat so that why they are different." They are simply different.
The one M Ibrahim says, he said that he listened to it from a cantor somewhere in Beni suif. For M Tawfik, he is a source.
Lets complicate things more... there is a third one that is long, and written in the musical notation book that was published b…
I agree with minamaker. Just consider how we read it in the local language throughout the year, not just Pascha. The Laqqan prayers all have prophecies that are all read in the same way. Even if the prophecy is only one or two verses, or if the next…
The problem with that implication is that it serves no propose. You would be saying the same thing twice, once chanted and once read--I don't see that to make any sense or beneficial. One can even say you are wasting time.
I think we are just not c…
@minamakar, if people already are having a hard time "reading" the prophecies in the local language (English or Arabic or whichever), how would chanting it be better or even more beneficial?!I get what you are saying, and I do agree that there is a …
Very quickly...Orthodoxy is Orthodoxy. There isn't a faith that is 'more' or 'less' orthodox than another. It's either you follow what you believe is the truth (ie Orthodox), or you don't, in which case one is just fooling themselves in running arou…
@ophadece....ehhh, atleast we were given a reason.
@WadeYonas, I just got the update....and this is annoying a bit. But it looks like they changed it to match the part from the Thursday Psali, which is where these "mohayyars" come from. But this is …
I think there atleast one old manuscript that includes ⲉⲕ ⲡⲁⲣⲑⲉⲛⲟⲩ first ... And it makes sense considering that all those feasts, from Nativity to Cana of Galilee, are celebrations of the Divine Appearance.
Nativity paralex is not new ... Always b…
Actually, 2 does change with season the same with the hymn.
The decision of the Synod that Jojo_Hanna is mentioning is ONLY concerning the Creed, and nothing else. While all liturgical services are a declaration of our faith, the Orthodox Creed is …
I don't want to turn this post into an economy class...but I believe you can have 0% inflation while still have economical growth. In a "perfect" market, prices would just be in the proper point based on supply on demand, and productivity and GDP wo…
actually, inflation is very bad for a country such as Egypt since the majority are in the lower class, and the middle class is close to non-existent.
Things are getting a bit better though...
Think of those that don't have a bank account. There was times where people were not even able to buy a loaf of bread... Which is the simplest sustenance that one can get in Egypt. Inflation is bad for the majority of any country since it hurts much…
