Our coptic church really started losing it's coptic language

Hi All,
I'm one of the people that love coptic hymns to bits, & I love to chant coptic hymns in coptic language. Recently our church decided to chant all the prayers in english language only, this includes tasbeha, liturgy etc. I started feeling that I don't enjoy the prayer in english language only & I really miss praying in coptic. We have only once church in my city so I can't go to another church, I tried many times with abouna & other people but they refused to include coptic in the prayer. What's your opinion? what I should I do?

I have found a brand new album for the Great Lent that Ibrahim Ayad made that has much better quality than the one on this site. Is there a way to replace the one on the site with the one I've found? Can I upload it to the site?

For tommorows liturgy during communion... after psalm 150, is it okay to say glorification for st mary or should we say hymns for the great lent?

I'm listening to the recordings of the great Is Pateer and I noticed a small difference between two recordings. Hopefully someone who has learned it can point me in the right direction.

The biggest difference that I'm currently struggling with is on the second repetition of "Peniot Ethowab En-arshi-erevs" in the third paragraph.

In Ibrahim Ayad's recording, at approximately 7:12, he starts saying it. He says "Peniot ethowa-" and then he does three up-and-downs followed by two hazzats to lead into the end of the word "ethowab."

In the HICS recording, at approximately 6:37, the cantor starts the same part, but he does four up-and-downs followed by two hazzats to lead into the end of the word.

Additionally, I watched a video of this hymn being prayed at Mississauga last Easter, and they did four. I know sometimes Ibrahim Ayad "combines" hazzats but I can't hear him saying four up-and-downs at all, so I'm wondering if maybe he missed it?

So what is correct? Four or three?

I remember that Anton Ayad had a recording of selected pascha hymns chanted in arabic (e.g. Omonogenees, Rafadooni) when he was young. I was wondering if anyone has access to that. Thanks a lot and take care.

I would be most grateful if someone could find me any recording of oniatk enthok o dimas, the hymns of the thief in coptic. I know there is one on this site, by Fr. Isaiah El- Muharraqi, but the introduction is what I really want, rather thean the paralex "ashopi" which is identical to the "ashopi" paralex of "Piepnevma", and this recording is really fuzzy.

I hope everyone is having a blessed Lent.

Saint Antony Monastery of California has released a new production that they need help promoting online for fundraising purposes. They are in the middle of trying to complete St. Moses church, but are unable to because of the monetary situation. Father Anastasi and a few youth came together and recorded the Psalms of the Agpeya in English - The First, Third and Sixth Hours for now.

I think it is a great piece and a GREAT tool for memorization while you're driving, taking a jog, etc. I hope people will buy it since it's only $3 for the First Hour and another $3 for the Third and Sixth. The links are below, and please feel free to comment with any questions or concerns.

Note: It will also be on iTunes within a week or so, we're just waiting on Apple. (But it will be cheaper through these links).

Hi All,
I have a question about the coming Feast of the cross on Sunday.
Do we say Tai Shory or Tee Shory? Cantor Ibrahim Ayad says (on his tapes) that we say Tee Shory.
What is your opinion?

It has come to my attention that there are different ways (tune wise and text wise) for the hymn of "Je Nai Nan" for the different liturgies according to Sts. Basil, Gregory, and Cyril. I was wondering if someone can provide the text and audio for them please. Thank you very much and take care.

Hymns for ordination of a new priest

Hi everyone,

Next Saturday, we will have a new priest ordained for our church. I've never attended a priest ordination before. I am the leading deacon at our church, so I'd like to get ideas from everyone of what hymns need to be said. I think it will be a little bit tricky because it will be the Feast of the Cross. The more detail you give me, the better, please.

I greet you all with a sincere and thankful heart that we are ever closer to restored communion, and that one day soon we will be able to receive the most Holy Mysteries in each others' churches. In keeping with the theme of unity and sharing of hymns and texts, I thought I would share with you a service that the EO uses every day in the first week of Great Lent, and then every Monday evening for the rest of the Fast: Great Compline. This is served with portions of the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, which is the most beautiful hymn of repentance in the Church (not to mention one of the longest). Lent Psalm 150 Response

So there is a HUGE debate between the deacons in my church about the psalm 150 response during lent. Some deacons say "A Isoos...". actually one deacon said it and now many follow him. Others say the same thing minus the A so bascially some people add an A before the response. Is this correct/acceptable? I don't think it is...I thought the A was there as a place holder something but someone actually put an alpha before isoos on our lenten powerpoint.

I Heard from an servant in my church about 5 versions of mournful Ti-shoury i know three of them :
1-Traditional tune
2-Sahdic tune
3-Alexandrian tune
and 2 i haven't heard about them:
1-Tanta tune and i don't remember the last's name.
Has anyone heard about any of the 2 last versions???
