sure, i was assuming everyone fasts strictly on fridays anyway, maybe i should make it clear as there are lots of people who are fairly new to being orthodox (including me!)
-
that is happy news, dear brother :-) i think that there is strict fasting Monday though (no fish) as it is the day before the feast, is that right? and also strict fasting 18 and 19 Jan before feast of theophany.

so i think we did every hymn! it was lovely, and 1 of the ppl ophadece mentioned was there (with his brother). they are still as lovely as they were as kids when i used to visit their church and they were polite, welcoming and enthusiastic. it is…

2 points: the deeper meaning of the song of songs is about God's relationship with us. for more details, read 'have u seen the 1 i love' by pope shenouda, I highly recomend it. secondly the verse is a bit different in the septuagint, so if i had see…

are u sure yr parents have not guessed? if they have not realised u are serious about someone maybe u should deal with this 1st before u mention the illness. if u are not close to them, maybe they will freak out already about u being adult enough to…

only yr (or the relevant person's) confession father can answer that. may God give u peace.

-
our church has all night praises then liturgy 25 -26th! as 26 december is bank holiday in uk. hoping we will include every hymn :-D
-
I don't know the situation, so won't comment further
-
in response to pharaoh nashed, I have also seen that, they want to have an extra service with Christmas tunes.
-
i was thinking of all those who were feeling sad about eating lentils and nuts on 25th...
-
remember we do get an extra day without fasting this year, 29 kiahk (8 jan) is a wednesday, so no wednesday fasting that day!
-
there are old ppl around who can teach the parents and we can all do our part
-
we could post things about evidence for God's existence, this may help (apologetics) but also making friends with ppl who are not close to God is important
-
happy feast to all. thanks for posting this :-)
-
:-) i love them all!

this is true, when used in the correct arabic sense. also we do have a special tasbeha (praises) for evening prayers. i prefer to call it evening prayers rather than translate arabic into latin (unless in a latin language country, i hope u don't mi…

may the prayers of all the saints be with you

the orthodox study Bible has notes on both books, as on all the books of the Bible.i expect there is more available in arabic, but i don't know.

it depends very much on the situation. people are often concerned about security, especially in large churches. may God guide u.
-
wow u have rich people in yr church, 20 euros a ticket! seriously though i think it depends on yr motives, remember quickly buying and selling can destabilise the market and it usually poorer ppl who loose out.

to me it seems to be the last part of the hymn that starts with psalm 150. it is all written together in my book. then usually we sing ke et esmaro-ot (blessed are you). so i got confused and thought there was a new hymn, but it turned out to be th…

did u speak to your confession father? he is probably the best person to send you in the right direction.also look here for some ideas:http://tasbeha.org/community/discussion/16708/living-with-god-in-solitude-in-the-midst-of-the-world

ok, thanks, it is the really short addition to psalm 150 that i knew.
-
thanks to God for his grace
-

-
so where can I find pioufa fa? it seems like it is more than the 3 words I know. thanks 4 yr help
-
ok, so please post the link to what you recommend for saturdays, as this seems to leave us just with psalm 150! is 'pioufa penNouti' just the extension to psalm 150?like when we sing (in coptic); 'glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit'…

this discussion is a bit above my pay grade as my coptic is still rudimentary after 11 yrs in the church, but I like all yr posts, especially minatasgeel's. we had a new baby baptised into the church yesterday whose dad was also baptised as an adult…
