What does this mean!??

edited December 1969 in Faith Issues
Hello, can someone explain Isiah 61:10:

I delight greatly in the LORD;

my soul rejoices in my God.

For he has clothed me with garments of salvation.

and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,

as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,

and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels

What does all this mean?

Thanks

  • This passage is encouraging, it gives hope. Israel held to such sentences in its long history of pain.
We have to know that Jesaja 61 is very important... A very beautiful and the shortest sermon of our lord Jesus Christ.
In the synagogue of his homecity,
(Luke 4:17) he was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, 9 because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord." Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
    And his sermon is:
"Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."

A sermon... With one sentence, saying everything...
Keeping with his whole life what the prophet had promised...[coptic]¿[/coptic]
He suffered and rose from the dead.
    God bless you

  • In Mormon theology (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) it refers to the temple rites.
