OK.. look, for the record, Purgatory doesnt exist. Christ paid the price for my sins, that's it. tHose that believe in purgatory cannot be orthodox as we believe that if Christ died for us; there's nothing more for us to pay. Its dangerous to believe in purgatory , because you devalue the sacrifice that was made saying taht DESPITE God's sacrifice , we still go to purgatory because our repentence is never perfect.

Also, catholics argue that purgatory exists because , although Christ has died for you (which they believe), there is a price to pay for your sins (the effects of your sins on others) - and you pay for this in purgatory. Christ's sacrifice on the cross was to pay for Adam's sins; to unite heaven and earth. But the Orthodox perspective is, He died for our sins, and if we repent and confess, and have communion, they are forgiven. Christ said "Take, eat of this all of you, this is my body..., for the REMISSION of sins". He didn't say... "I forgive you, but go to purgatory".
