If only our men honored and respected us like this, whatever walk of life we find ourselves in, helping us to righteousness; not further degrading us and pulling us down!!??!
How did you overcome feeling like a victim of prejudice and sexism in church?
you are men. you have so much privilege in our culture, do you not see that?? i have seen so many things and my family always tries to push me towards being traditional but i don't like it. i know women who go to school, work, take care of their children, take care of all the household issues, and the husband doesn't so much as lift a finger in the house. my family expects me to do the same!
we are not allowed to go into the altar (and mind you, regular men are not supposed to either, but of course, that would never be emphasized, only for women)
we are not allowed to read in the church (but we have 4-year-olds as deacons who can't read or do anything and men as deacons who can't read coptic, english, or even arabic),
we are not allowed to take communion because we have a natural occurrence in our body once a month (and men are not supposed to take communion during a certain period too and i can get you that info if you like, but of course, that also is never emphasized, only for women).
o yeah, and we have to submit to men...
[quote author=sodr2 link=topic=9017.msg112889#msg112889 date=1270605565]I'm sorry, but it's the women in today's society get everything handed to them on a silver plate...and honestly, how many couples do you know that are actually like how you described here, like 2? the husbands never went to school?? you must be describing poor people here. also, ive never in my life heard that its 3aeb for a guy to do housework, i think that problem is only in your family. Oooo youre parents expect you to go to school and do chores, how tragic! ::)
why don't you try doing all the house chores and being a full time student at a college and see how it feels.
but it's a little unfair when men are allowed to break the rules and women aren't, wouldn't you say that?
