I find it very interesting that there hasn't been a single confirmed case of swine flu in Egypt yet they are taking such drastic precautionary measures.  Both the UN and WHO have criticized this decision but seems like no one wants to listen.  Obviously it's only Coptic people who will suffer from this.  It's really sad to know that so many peoples lives will be negatively affected by something that is so unnecessary.

  • You have some valid points Grace. I really looked into this issue.

The government is culling all Pigs in Egypt. And these Pig farms are owned only by Coptic Christians.
They have offered the farmers compensation but apparently it involves drastic conditions like relocation of their entire farms to extreme rural areas (like right in the middle of the desert!)

Does anyone have more information on how the gov. is intends to compensate these farmers exactly?
