  • Anyone!!!!! Please!!!!!!
  • a few ideas:
include memorising verses from the Bible, with small prizes for each age group (small sweets etc).
also group games involving running around, ideally outside,
Bible study, with older kids being asked questions to show they understood the passage or asked how this teaching might change things they do in their life (eg forgive brother instead of hit him!). younger kids love to colour in Bible story pictures, then ask them how much of the story they can remember by looking at the picture and re-tell it briefly using a picture so it sticks in their mind.

ask questions only based on the passage you just read, so any children who have no knowledge of the Bible before can also join in and answer.
make sure that the Bible reading is also fun, so they are not just thinking, 'i hope i can run around soon!'

****make it accessible for the neighbourhood children, and friends of church children, especially those who are not Christian***
eg put a big poster outside the church or advertise in a local business magazine.

group singing (a simple song, in a language everyone knows) is also good. keep the coptic for sunday school, summer club is a good time to bring back children who were drifting away from church or bringing in children from outside (in my opinion).

prayer is very important. if you have a lot of visiting children, you can all learn something easy like the Lord's prayer. if there are a lot of Christian children, you can encourage them to pray from their hearts (assuming you already taught them about prayer).

and lastly, but most importantly, choose your leaders carefully. a sunday school leader or helper should care for the children like saint paul cared for the church, feeling all it's concerns, praying for it without ceasing. so a sunday school teacher should pray for all the children by name regularly, ideally every day and spend many hours preparing the lesson. someone who prays 2 or 3 minutes a day and then turns up with nothing prepared and makes it up on the spot is more like a hired worker than a shepherd.
also involve the whole church in helping you prepare. ask abouna to make anouncements about it long in advance and hold prayer meetings before the summer club where those who are not sunday school teachers can join you and support you in prayer. give people the opportunity to serve by making refreshments and cleaning the room before and after summer club.

we pray for you, may God guide you  :)

    1. have an overall theme to focus on..including a verse & let the kids memorize that verse
with a song. Have lessons that apply to the theme
    2. have fun activities planned for them..water balloon fghts..activites like that...or moon bounces, water slides, etc
    3. take them out to the zoo, movies, or park
    4. have a hymns class
