Fr. Estephanos Rizk Covenant Thursday Fraction (Maundy Thursday)

edited December 1969 in Hymns Discussion
Hey Guys,

Happy Coptic New Year!!

http://www.coptichymns.net/modules.php?name=Coptic_Media&op=modload&file=index&p=Coptic Services and Liturgies/Fraction Prayers/Arabic Fractions/Fr Stephanos Rizk

This is a link to Father Stephanos Rizk saying the fraction for Covenant Thursday (Maundy Thursday). However it is a bit different to what we hear on Covenant Thursday. It is a bit longer, and by the sounds of things (as I don't understand Arabic really well) it has a much more deeper meaning. I was wondering If anyone could find the text for this?? I have searched high and low to no prevail. If you find it it would be a great help. If not, and if I am not asking for too much, whenever someone has the time will anyone be able to translate it into English?

Your help in the matter will really be appreciated guys, and God will reward you.

Thanks alot!

  • Anyone??

    Thanks
  • this fraction indeed is beautiful. HOWEVER, when i asked about it i was told that it is most likely of ethiopian or syrian origin. it is not recognised by the coptic church and shouldn't be said. fr stephanos rezk said it before the pope made a final decree about it along with the dozens of other liturgies in the ethiopian church.
  • Actually, this fraction is "valid." it just elaborates more on the conversation between Abraham and Isaac. Also shows many of the emotions that Abraham was thought to have at those moments.....yes....it's not biblically correct, but not really wrong either. it was also recorded here: http://tasbeha.org/mp3/Divine_Liturgies/Father_Estefanos_Shehata,_Liturgy_of_St_Basil.html
