Communion

I just had a question about communion for women...

why can't women have communion when they're menstruating? I know that in the Old Testament women were excluded from alot of things when they were because they were considered unclean, but i don't understand why we still have that in our church.

I wanted to ask Abouna but i guess i was too shy.
