Liturgy

edited December 1969 in Coptic Orthodox Church
With reference to the 3 Liturgy listed on http://www.copticchurch.net/topics/liturgy/index.html,

- The Divine Liturgy of St. Basil
- The Divine Liturgy of St. Cyril
- The Divine Liturgy of St. Gregory

Someone can kindly tell me when each one is used and which are the main differences.

Thanks a lot!!!

  • Hmm I'm going to make an attempt at this and anyone feel free to correct...

Any one of them can be used at any time. The difference is that the Gregorian and Cyrillan liturgies, the way I see it, have much more detail than the Basillan. The Cyrillan on the other hand, seems to have a lot of litanies.
  • definetly....the gergorian is loaded with much more things than the basilian...the one that we usually say in my church is the basilian...and we finish at bout 10 30 ....but with the gergoorain we exceed 11 oclock...

if that waswhat u were saying!
  • *sighs* The differences are much more substantial and meaningful than mere issues of length and time. Here is a good overview:
