The Promise

Although we celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection every year, we may become distracted by the festivities and rituals, and lose sight of the true relevance and meaning of the occasion.

The Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is the single most important event in giving us hope in what is to come. Without the Resurrection, our life would end on this earth, thus meaning that the suffering which we live, and the physical death which we die, would be the end for us.

Through His glorious Resurrection, our Lord showed us that we are now entitled to an everlasting in His Kingdom, and with this understanding, we see our material life and physical death in completely different light.

For us, death is no longer an end, but the beginning of a much more beautiful life. Likewise, illness or suffering now seem as temporary and small states in the balance with the joy and comfort of eternal life.

We are created in God's image and likeness, and thus we are spiritual, not physical, beings. In this light, death no longer becomes fearful, but a transitional step to a truly spiritual life, and our Lord's Resurrection becomes a promise of this life, which we will experience with Him.
