Crowning - Hymn of the censer

Hi,

During a crowning service (wedding), which hymn of the censer should be said, Taishouri or Teeshouri?

I heard both
- Taishouri: Coptic hymn in English, HICS, Abufam
- Teeshouri: Coptic Heritage, Tasbeha.org, Ibrahim Ayad

Regards
Yoan.

  • I think that it should be ϯϣⲟⲩⲣⲏ
    Ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡϭⲥ
  • Ϯϣⲟⲩⲣⲏ :)
  • Thank you both :)
  • It's }soury always as the Synod decided on in its May 29, 1999 session. Without getting into details of the "standardization" of the current rite we currently have:
    - HICS recording was mainly of the Rite of the Contract of Possession, which does have Taisoury
    - Coptic hymns in english follows Coptic Reader which does have Taisoury incorrectly. HG Bishop Youssef is aware of this and His Grace chooses to say Taisoury rather than }soury
  • Thank you Minatasgeel :)
  • is the engagement called 'contract of possession'?
is that from coptic or from arabic?

    /:)
  • Lol. It's not. The "engagement" rite, if one may call it that, has only been developed in the last 150 years or so. It was first introduced in the first printed book for the Sacrament of Matrimony. It was mainly created to allow the couple of to break-off their relationship with no problems because the "Contract or Possession" was as good as the Crowning Ceremony... Like, you'll be married on paper, but not really practically married. One was to deal with that is to do the Contract and the Crowning services back to back.
