tasbeha history

hi, i am asking a question for my friend who does not have a tasbeha.org account.

she would like to know more about the history of tasbeha (night praises).

i don't translate it to midnight praises, as it is more like middle of the night praises than 24:00 praises, and it confuses native english speakers!

we spoke to our abouna and he told us that it all started with saint cyril (baba kirollos 1st) writing songs to correct the heretical songs written by the nestorians.

do you have any links to english language sources (webpages or books we can buy) that can tell us more about this?

i know many of you know more about hymns than i will ever know, so i expect to find some answers here!
