If you read my long article carefully, I mentioned that HH Pope Shenouda does have an Orthodox and valid position in my opinion, but should not be dogmatized as the only right opinion of the afterlife. As I mentioned, what we do know is that there is a whole lot of mystery and that we in fact don't know much about the afterlife. But it never hurts to have hope and to trust in efficacy of prayers for the departed. So my intention was not to criticize, but to give an alternative understanding.
