For the Christians of Syria and Egypt

edited January 2014 in Prayer Requests
Greetings in Christ my dear brethren.

I am typing this message to bring to your attention the plight of our brothers and sisters in the Christ-loving lands of Egypt and Syria, who have been some of the most unfortunate victims of the conflicts in their respective countries. They are in desperate need of our prayers. While we abide in the comfort of our homes our brothers and sisters abroad are slaughtered, oppressed, and live in constant fear for their lives. We often speak of the persecution of our fellow Copts in Egypt, but do little to show our support for our Syrian brothers, whose plight is even greater. Please pray for the Christians of Syria and Egypt and spread the word regarding their persecution to others. Taking a mere moment of your time to pray for them may make a world of difference.

Lord, have mercy on the Christians of Syria and Egypt. Clothe the naked among them, grant shelter to their homeless, quench their thirst, satiate their hunger, console their grief, confirm their faith, grant them courage in the face of the adversary, and victory over their enemies. May the Churches of Antioch and Alexandria become beacons of light to all the servants of Christ, serving as a reminder that we are not to love the world or anything that is in it, for the world and all its vain desires shall pass away. Grant this through the prayers of the Theotokos, Sts. Peter and Paul, and all of the new martyrs of Syria. Amen.

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that for a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught many people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. -Acts 11:26
