I was suggesting that perhaps the person who described it as "la7n el sham3" was talking about this hymn which according to the video is "el tar7 el kibeer." He might have been talking about this hymn but described it as "la7n el sham3." I haven't heard or seen this hymn done before...at least not in any church near where I live.

All the Mlm. Mikhail Hymns are currently in the United States Library of Congress. All the original vinyl records of anything they recorded were donated by Ragheb Moftah to Congress. This whole thing about his family hiding stuff is pretty far fetched to me. And it doesn't help when rumours spread like wild fire in our lovely Egyptian community.

BTW. That thing about the fake candle hymn was hilarious. It reminds me of a certain priest who tried convincing this guy that the church had the body of Archangel Michael. He was this close to convincing him then abouna broke into tears from laughter.

guys i dont think the first hos is dead. i read that mlm takla and mlm mikhaeel both said only old tunes of the liturgy of cyril might be dead, with only the response to its commemoration of saints. also albair (not the best source, but still a source) has a recording of the first hos long tune. eflogimenos can be found with a google search lol

the first hos long tune is from the last verse that says the hore and its rider... and is called o ehtho.

Albair likes to add stuff but he is a pretty good source for history and most of the hymns. For instance, he explains the Shammy Hymns (that aren't Lebanese, Palestinian, or Syrian according to common belief) such as Ⲡⲉⲕⲑ̀ⲉⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ and Ⲁⲩϭ̀ⲛⲟⲛ originated in an ancient Egyptian Royal City named Sham. However, in Ⲙⲉⲅⲁⲗⲟⲩ, in his recordings he says "Ⲙⲉⲅⲁⲗⲟⲩⲥ" and includes ⲟ̀ ⲥ̀ⲧⲁⲩⲣⲱⲑⲓⲥ ⲇⲓ ⲏ̀ⲙⲁⲥ" before "ⲉ̀ⲗⲉⲏ̀ⲥⲟⲛ ⲏ̀ⲙⲁⲥ" of the third stanza. He is more honest in his books and teachings, to the point where he doesn't include such additions and calls the hymn "Ⲙⲉⲅⲁⲗⲟⲩ." His recordings are reliable but shouldn't be your first source to look at. Look first at Ibrahim Ayad, Cantor Gad, HICS, and other cantors. There will almost never be a time where you can't find a hymn there.

I was wrong lol I just read a keraza magazine saying the old tunes for the Liturgy according to St. Mark, translated and added to by the Thrice Blessed Cyril were the only things lost. I was sleepy lol again sorry guys. But O ehtho still exists, its from Zania in Luxor, and most ppl consider it authentic but not everyone says it should be said, idk why.
