hello all,
I have 3 sisters, respectively 1, 2, and 3--oldest to youngest. there is an issue between 2 and 3.

2 gets extremely jealous from the 3 so she goes into her room and rips out pages from her diary that she thinks is about her (and 3 came to me for help)... when i confronted 2 about it she said that she didnt classify it as 'stealing'. I want to tell her that what she is doing is wrong but she just doesnt understand what the bible is teaching AT ALL, she flips it all around. For example, she refers to acquiring the virtue of patience through waiting for her to get ready as she does her hair. she hits people and tells the person "who cares, anba so and so got hit by the devil so it doesnt matter if you get hit, its just a body". I just dont know how to deal with such a person. As an older sibling, I don't think its right . I think its really cunning to go into someone's room in the first place and read someone's diary in the first place let alone rip out pages and take them with her. How do I say that to her? What should I do? 3 is really feeling the worst not only having her diary read but finding pages of her life ripped out. I dont keep a diary but she started crying in front of me telling me that all her life was in it so it must have been special to her.

i tried to put myself in the shoes of 3 and thought if i had written a page about my life not meant to be read by anyone else and found it read and gone, i would be extremely uneasy and would want to hide all my stuff, but the reality is why would i hide it from someone that i am supposed to trust but makes it so hard to trust her? well that was my empathy anyway. i hope you still remember what i wrote in the beginning, that 2 is jealous from 3. thats the root of the problem i think, and i see it everyday, there was a huge issues before associated with the jealously of 2. but again, I dont know how to deal with that. any advice would be good, especially from someone who might have experienced this issue. Thanks.

Ekristos Aneseti every one!!!
I have a very simple question that comes up to mind everytime.
The US is 100% behind the government and state of Israel.
When the matter is concerning Christian persecution in Egypt, the US turns a blind eye.Why is that? What strategic or political interest are they going to lose by demanding justice for the persecuted people if they are bankrolling the Egyptian government with aid money? Does it not have at least a moral obligation as a Christian country with a superpower to do something that alleviates the sufferings of the prevalent persecutions?? What are we doing wrong to get the USA on the side of the truth?
Anyone has ideas?

Agapy!

I just thought of something as I was driving home as a suggestion for the Deacons, and exclusively for Deacons.

We used to have a day that we would set a side for a "Father/Son type day" with our priest and the deacons. If he is father then we are sons. We have, as deacons, a very special relationship with a given priest or priests of the church. They do so much for us, and yet they, in some cases, some instances, are taken for granted. Many times we do not put ourselves in their shoes, troubles, anxieties, difficulties, and maladies. They neglect themselves, in sacrifice, for the entire church.

If you think about it, liturgically, he says something and we respond. We are the first calling after the priest's words.

They are special. They are a gift from God to us. They are there to remind us that although the Lord has left and ascended to the Father, He (Our Master) grants us shepherds to lead and guide us; to nurture and uphold us; to comfort and save us; and to love us when sometimes no one else will; to seek us out and to help us in the path of repentance. I cannot think of a better definition of "father". My priest is always that way.

I offer up a suggestion and a challenge: Pick a day in conjunction with your priest or priests of your church. Make it exclusive for the deacons and the priest. Find a nice restaurant. Chip in some money and have a good meal together. Let him feel that this day was set aside just for him. There should be no distractions. Have good hearty conversation. Serenade him with good hymns. He is not going to have "For he's a jolly good fellow...", but there are many good chants and hymns that can be offered. Let the people in the restaurant hear that our priests are special, and their children care about him. Let them know that in the Coptic Orthodox Church, our priests are loved, respected, and appreciated by their children.

Sometimes when we had extra money we would get him a present or something. In times when money was tight, it was just nice to be out with your "dad" from the church. A couple of good jokes would not hurt (in good taste of course). It really would be a nice distraction.

I would hope that a gang of guys would go pick him up from his house so that he does not have to drive to his own appreciation day. Call it whatever you want as a day. It does not have to be a surprise. Just do it. PLEASE.

The priests we have are good people. Good men with a special mission. I hope that the suggestion clicks and it finds a way to fruition in the given churches where everyone is stationed.

May God preserve our priests for us. May God preserve the life of our High Priest, Pope Shenouda III--the father to our fathers, and father to all that are in the Coptic Orthodox Church.

--Sorry for rambling. I was just very gripped by my memories as I was driving home tonight.

Christ is Risen!

I watched the film Ostrov, meaning ,-the Island and found it impressive. The film is basically about persistent repentance, and its impact and fruits on peoples lives and various different monks within the monastery. The main character, Fr Anatoly, is an ordinary man, whose behaviour and way of life appear unusual and foolish, but then becomes evident that his foolishness was a real foolishness for christ. He comes to the monastery to repent of his past deed that kept on tormenting him until the hour of his death. But the fruits of his constant repentance does not only change him,but also the life of those around him ;his abbot and the once haughty superior monk of the monastery...etc etc

If you are interested to watch, attached is the link to part 1..(Follow the Youtube links to watch the other parts)

Ostrov The Island - -(With English Subtitles)

Hi,

Mr. McDonalds has these new cheese bites: Mozzarella cheese in breadcrumbs. I just want to know before I embark on buying a lot of them, are they fasting?

Does anyone know?

It looked siamy, and I think mozzarella cheese is siamy. I know bread is siamy also.

If this is siamy, this is going to be the best passion week ever.

Thanks

Hey Everyone! A blessed Last Friday of Lent to everyone :)

I was wondering if anyone knew of guide through passion week for Children? These are middle school kids so coloring things wouldn't really work, but something that summarizes the day's events and has selections of readings and the message of the day. It would be great if you guys would respond ASAP so that I can get them printed and given to the kids by Palm Sunday.

If you have something that is similar but doesn't completely fit the description completely, send it my way and I'll tweek it for them. Whether it's for a younger crowd of kids or a more intense one for adults, I'm open to anything. Thanks everyone!

My email is pmansour91@gmail.com if you'd rather send it as an attachment than a link.

God bless and pray for my heart to be surrendered to Christ during this week of his passionate love.

Tish
