If you go to http://www.goarch.org/en/special/listen_learn_share/nativity/listen/ you can find the hymn ebarthenos sung in the Greek Orthodox Church tune. It is so nice to hear how they sing it. Much faster than we do; plus the second voice and every thing. That is very interesting really, because I would like to ask every one's views: did the hymn change over time (either from their part (the Greek Orthodox Church), or ours (Coptic Orthodox Church) for lack of proper rendering), or merely the tune wasn't set right from the start? I think I will need the views of every one, especially jydeacon, hos erof, gergesezzat, cephas, shnoda, and all others please

oki doki well i have this tape that has christmas/st. mary songs. and it was recorded so i dont really know who it's by, its an all male group i think.

I wanted to know if anyone had any clue what im talking about and if anyone had a link to this online somehow?

it would be awesome! BTW its in arabic and one of the songs is to the Jewish song "Hava Nagila" but obviously different words and it's about the nativity.

does anyone know the song that is said during Kiahk.. "amda7 fel batool"..it is usually chanted in arabic as u probably already figured out by its name..

in the refrain(the part that gets repeated) of this song..it says..."ya 2obit mousa ya mariam ya shoryit aaron" ...i dont understand how is Saint Mary the dome of Moses?..and for the part about aaron..i am not sure if this is correct ..but i know that there is symbolism in the censor for Saint Mary...

can someone pls explain that phrase to me...i dont understand it

I would like to reply to my question if you have an idea. I know we refer to the hymns said in Vespers and Matins as "verses of cymbals", as the Arabic translation of "nakos" in this context means the "daf"; but I think on either youthbishopric.com, or copticheritage.org, I noticed that they translated it to "verses of the bell"; the word "nakos" in Arabic can also mean "bell". That started me thinking, does that mean that they refer to it this way, as this hymn is usually sung in Matins, and maybe during ringing the bells to wake the faithful up and encourage them to attend the Mass?
That is very interesting, and I hope someone do have the answer.

Tasbeha.org is a great site I really enjoy having all these resources available and the forum is a great place to get information.

Does anyone know where I can listen to the following Holy Communion Hymns:

1- One that starts with "Ena Fadi...." It's really beautiful but I don't hear it that often at Church unfortunately.

2- One that goes like "Al Massih An'amlana Bel Khalas" (Christ has granted our Salvation).

I would really appreciate it if anyone knows where to find them online.
