Now I have noticed that the Greek word: [coptic]precbuteroc[/coptic] means priest. Hence the common translation "manaber el sheyookh" - منابر الشيوخ  "the seat of the elders" is a dodgy translation. Shouldn't it be "the seats of the priests"? Is it due to yet another dodgy translation from a Protestant Bible, who do not acknowledge the priesthood (bearing in mind that the "seats of the elders" phrase is used regularly all over the world).

What hymns are there for babies? To either put them to sleep or to sing to them something... we are talking about 1 day to 3 months. (I guess if u are from Australia, u probably start with Ke-Eperto or Omonogeneis, but I'm talking about a non-australian Coptic baby.. u know - average).

WHat Hoss could one sing to a small baby??? Something soft, something soothing... make them fall asleep??

Is that the practice in your church? And if so, why? I know that the synod agreed to that a couple of years ago, but the question is why - what does this symbolise?
