'Roumy' and 'Shamy'

Hi everyone

According to Wikipedia, the tunes which we call 'Shamy' are of Syrian origin and the tunes we call 'Roumy' are of Byzantine origin (which makes sense because [coptic]romy[/coptic] is Coptic for 'Rome') - I was just wondering which hymns are 'shamy' and 'roumy'?

I know that [coptic]au[inon[/coptic] and [coptic]pek`;ronoc[/coptic] are both 'Shamy', which kind of disappointed me because I always thought they were Ancient Egyptian burial tunes. But are there any other 'shamy' tunes? And which hymns are 'roumy'?

It would also be interesting to know where the rest of them came from - does anybody know of any resources about the musical origin of our hymns?

since rejoice o mar is the annual adam aspasmos and o lord god of hosts is watos. during the fast AND feast of st mary would we sing all week rejoice o mary or do the rites not change?

Hey, I was just wondering if someone had audio files of this priest. I am fully aware of the Basillian Liturgy that he prays on this site and I also know he participated with cantor reda barsoum in some resurrection hymns as well. Hello all! May the blessings of this fast be with you. I was just wondering, do most people use the recording of Ondos by HICS (found on this site) or the recording of Ibrahim Ayad (found on coptichymns.net). I started learning it the HICS way but the older deacons at my church know it the Ibrahim Ayad way. The two recordings are actual quite different in several places, which is strange... anyone have some history on what happened?

it's exactly like aritenthonti of kiahk and lent, the 8th part of the saturday theotokia.....and actually, as this is my opinion and not a fact, every 8th part of a watos theotokeia and in friday's case it is the 6th part.

Hey guys. I recall someone telling me that we are suppose to say Al El Korban on the Pentacost instead of the 41 Lord Have Mercies.

Is this true, and if it is does anyone know the significance behind this?

For the Feast of Pentecost, do we only say the Psali for Pentecost or do we say the Psali for Ressurection, Ascension and Pentecost or just Ressurection and Pentecost?
