A couple months ago I was on coptichymns.net and there was an article about a guy named Maitreya (i think that's how it is spelled) and it says that it is very possible he is the Antichrist because nobody knows his father, he appears randomly, he heals people, and does mostly everything Jesus did...So my question is...is this finally the Antichrist? Everything that was said makes sense to lead to the conclusion he is the antichrist.

Here's the article
http://coptichymns.net/pagesetter-viewpub-tid-1-pid-326.html (Sorry if that does not show up as a link)
Please can someone help me to see if this is fake or not
Thanks and God Bless

Hi all, sorry to be a bother again. I was basically wondering how we are meant to pray? When I pray I do what I guess are the basic things, like ask God to watch over everyone, keep them safe, forgive them their wrongdoings, guide them closer to him, thank him for what he's done for me, and ask him to help keep my faith strong. After this, which is around 3 or so minutes, I run out of things to say, and don't know what to say in my prayers? What do the Saints say when they pray all day? Do they just repeat their prayers? Are we meant to repeat our prayers? If we are seeking something specific from God, such as help on something of great importance [in a spiritual sense] do we repeatedly ask for it in one prayer, or do we ask once and leave it at that? I want to pray for a lot longer but I have trouble because I don't know what to say, is all I'm really saying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys for bearing with him.

I strongly urge you to read this sermon.

This is the English translation of the transcription of the sermon given by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III during the Liturgy of the Feast of the Resurrection this year.

Pay close attention to the last section of the sermon. According to people who have seen the video, His Holiness "snapped out" of what seemed like a spiritual rapture, returned to earth, and ended his sermon abruptly. I need to see this video if anyone has it!

------

I congratulate you, my brothers and my sons, on the occasion of the Glorious Feast of the Resurrection, hoping that it will bring both you and our beloved Nation all goodness and blessing, praying that peace and love may envelope the whole world, and that God may save it from wars and calamities.

On the day of resurrection, a most wonderful and overwhelming meeting will take place, unlike any that history has ever seen. The righteous shall have a gathering full of joy in the dwelling place of grace, whereas the evildoers will have another gathering in the outer darkness, apart from the congregation of the saints.

But today we will talk about the meetings of the righteous. The first meeting will be that of the spirits with their bodies. The body will rise, whole and unharmed, bearing no defects, no weakness, no disease, no blemish, and no disability. It will rise a spiritual body, over which neither instinct nor desire has no authority, and it shall no longer resist the spirit as it sometimes did in a time past! It shall now be a heavenly body, suitable for life in Heaven, no longer having any relation to physical matter or gravity; for if it were physical, it would fall from Heaven to earth!

The spirit will recognize the body, and unite with it in earnest longing, having come back after perhaps generations of separation and estrangement since death. It finally returns for one last meeting, and what a wonderful meeting it is…

The second meeting will be the meeting of family, friends, and loved ones, a joyous meeting after the sorrowful separation cause by death.

For in the resurrection, spouses shall meet one another, and so shall children meet their parents, grandchildren their grandparents, and all kinsmen together. And so on for all members of the family, with all its branches, despite many generations having passed between its elders and its young ones. Perhaps even those who were last seen as children will be seen again, this time as elders! And so shall scattered friends meet again.

In the resurrection also, ages shall meet ages! The age of our father Adam and Abel the Righteous his son, meeting with the age of our father Noah and his children who survived the Flood in the Ark, and the age of our Fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the age of Moses, Aaron the high priest, and Miriam the prophetess their sister, and the age of David the Prophet and King and his son Solomon the Wise, with other ages that have followed since. Each era has its own environment, characteristics, and personalities.

The Patriarchs shall meet, each bearing his own history, worthy of reverence and respect. They shall make each other’s acquaintance, and share their memories while rendering to each other their due respect. Personalities hailing from thousands of years of history, finally meeting by way of the resurrection, even though they previously lived in different eras, and under different circumstances.

In the resurrection also shall meet all the martyrs, the righteous, ascetic witnesses to the Truth, witnesses to the Faith, and witnesses to virtue…all the martyrs, from among princes, commoners, knights, clergy, women, and children.

Each has their own story, their own struggle, their own witness, and their own bravery. Martyrs from the age of Nero, Diocletian, and others like them. Martyrs who have resisted idolatry, and Communism, and atheism, and deviations, and heresies…the heroes of Faith, who have defended it, and for its sake they endured injustice and torture. How wonderful shall be the meeting of all of those together, consoling each other with the glory they just attained in the resurrection!

All those shall meet the righteous from every generation, those who were role models of virtue, of ascetism, of humility, of bravery, of redemption, and of purity of hand and body.

In the resurrection, people from every race and tribe, from every language and colour, shall meet: fair skinned, olive skinned, and dark skinned…the Caucasians with the Africans, the Americans and the Native Indians…all colours shall meet! I do not suppose that people’s colour will change in eternal life!

Those who were masters will meet those who were servants, but have now been freed in eternal life. For a person’s status will change in the next life. All shall meet, but not all will have the same status.

Divine Justice will once again sort people apart, giving them ranks different from those they had during their lives on earth. All shall be re-arranged, this time according to their works and the purity of their hearts. And as it has been said of people in eternal life, a star shall exceed another star in glory. However, even with these differences in rank, all shall be happy.

But perhaps the most confounding of all these meetings will be the meeting with angels. The Kingdom of God in Heaven shall encompass both humans and angels, and so will humans meet Archangels Michael and Gabriel, and the rest of the archangels, the Cherubim and Seraphim, and all the innumerable host of the Heavenly powers.

Oh what joy, and what glory, shall be in that meeting! And what spiritual implications! Here I shall stop explaining, for it is a scene exalted above explanation!

For a wonderful celebration of first encounters will take place in Heaven…will one group of angels introduce those who have just been resurrected to those who have preceded them? Or will God grant people a spiritual sense with which they will recognize one another? Or will every saint, for example, have in their appearance features that distinguish and identify them? Or will there be another way to make someone’s acquaintance? I do not know.

What is important is that this massive celebratory meeting will take place in Heaven, between those of the past with those who had just arisen. Perhaps this celebration will last a long while. What is significant in this meeting is: how will all communicate with each other in Heaven? Through the spirit? Or through some language? And what will this language be? Is it a Heavenly language? Or is it the language of angels (do they even have a language)? Or will one understand what the other person intends to say, without articulating a single word? And I wonder what subjects the inhabitants of Heaven will talk about?

And will everyone join in one song and one praise? What shall it be? And who will lead this praise? Who shall write its words? Who shall compose its melodies? Who shall arrange its music? Who shall sustain its rhythm?

Pardon me my brethren, for I must now descend, and cease talking about Heaven to talk instead about our life on earth. We ask for peace and stability for our Nation, under the leadership of President Mubarak, and all the faithful soldiers of Egypt. And may you have many years of happy returns.

I have trouble appreciating some of the teachings of St Paul and wish to share this.
Feeling confused and disagreeing I question teachings like:

“All things are made lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”

And in 1 COR. 9

20And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

God laws are constant, just and for the good of man. And so we see through the history of God revelations to mankind that all Prophets not only preached and did practice same.
Not only did following God s laws bring peace and justice it also prepares us for better lives in the hereafter.
Now, St. Paul is claiming to have been given exception to this and I wonder by whom, where, and under what authority [rationale]

This contradicts:

MT 10 v4: The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

Is Paul given a license do all it takes to gain converts?
There are more verses like this I believe some of us may have had similar view about.

It started with deep questions and debates with friends, but now...its starting to scare me because i want to have faith but i dont know what to do. ??? ??? :'( :-[

Hi Guys,

I have a question, you might have heard it before but I honestly need a correct answer.

When Jesus was on the cross, he said "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?". Jesus and God are one, so why did he call on God. Isn't that just like calling on himself?

The same when he said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." Also, in the gospel of the second coming, Jesus says, "No one knows when the second coimg is...nor the angels in heaven, nor the Son of Man, only the Father...", again, Jesus and God are one, so shouldn't they both know?

Don't get me wrong, I believe that the father, the son and the Holy Spirit are one. Like the sun gives heat, rays and light, but is one, I just want to know the answer to those questions.

Sorry if im confusing anyone else.

I would love to hear your replies,
Mazza
God Bless

Sorry if I offend anyone with my question, I only wish to learn. I have heard death has different forms, mainly two; Physical and spiritual. Is this true?

Is death eternal? If it is, can someone please explain how Jesus' death on the cross was eternal and spiritual [i.e. seperation from God?]. I'm a bit confused on it. Any books etc on the subject would be appreciated too. Thanks heaps

Just remembered reading Genesis the other night, and got confused about the number of animals on the Ark. Can someone please explain the following:

Genesis 6:20

Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.

This verse seems to say he took two of every animal. But Genesis 7:2-3 says:

You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; 3 also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth.

This says 7 birds, 7 of the clean animals, and 2 of the unclean. I am confused. Can some please help me understand this verse? Also, why 7? How many males and females? Why only 2 of the unclean? Thanks greatly for the response.

Also Genesis 7:4 says:

For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”

This says it will rain forty days and forty nights.

But Genesis 7:24 says:

And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.

Is this saying that it rained 150 days? Or that is how long it took before the waters went away? [So 130 days for the waters to disappear and dry land to appear]

I thought Genesis 8 would explain it more but I got confused with the way the days and months are mentioned [It seems to say it took 600 years for the water to disappear?]

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

Can someone please help me with my confusion? Thank you greatly

Weak faith: What to do?

Most of the time I am firm and confident in my beliefs, yet sometimes I slip into periods where I begin to doubt and lose faith, and doubt more and more. These periods last for sometimes only a few hours, but even up to a week or two. After which I find my "faith" in God and the correctness of Christianity just returns as normal.

This questioning and doubt that enters into my heart upsets me as it makes me feel seperated from God, and the unsureness about Christianity makes me feel further removed from God because I begin to doubt about who He actually is in the first place. What could be causing these problems and what can I do to combat it? I thought it may have been from lack of spiritual material in my life, but I have been reading a lot of spiritua books, listening to a lot of Hymns and reading the Bible and praying more and more each night, but at moments like now I feel my faith wavering, and it feels like it is constantly being drained to the point where I don't know what to believe anymore. I try praying for God to watch over me and to help me see the Light that is in Him, but the doubts and fears still creep into my mind, such as "What if I'm wrong and I go to hell?". So, in summary: What can I do to avoid moments such as this, and what can I do to come out of moments like this once I enter them? Please pray for me all, I really need your prayers right now. Thank you.

A simple question. Does God interact with man through indirect means. For example, if God wanted to make a man aware that something was not right, and events arose which seemed to stop them taking part in an event, [And happened multiple times, in succession], could it be God attempting to stop you take part in that event? Does God work in that way in mans lives? If not, does satan work in that way? Can satan work in that way? Do they both operate in this manner, and if so, how is a person meant to decide which one is holding them back from the event; satan or God? Does coincidence exist? I eagerly await replies, and thank you in advance for your answers
