So when Christ descended to earth, he was born as fully human fully God, and He remained that way through out His life, His death, and His resurrection. My question is Christ still fully human even after He ascended into Heaven or that was only on earth and now Christ is just in His divine nature?

"Even we are novice, beginners in the prayer of heart, we may realize that something is happening inside us: it is more difficult for us to commit sins!!! We realize that sin is not good, we feel like ‘burning’ if we sin. There is Somebody, inside us…. And we feel happier. Thought of despair, of low self esteem, of different fears, fade away, gradually disappear.
I know somebody who wanted to commit suicide, and some priest advised him to say the prayer of Jesus. He didn’t like the idea, he considered this prayer something exclusive for monks, destructive for the personality, and laughed at the priest. But he started to say the prayer of the heart, just to destroy himself before the death. And after one week he found out that he couldn’t feel sorry. Peace was in his heart. He didn’t want to die anymore. Very surprised he tried to cause the thoughts of pain again, but... no way. Peace was inside him. Very surprised he went to find that priest. He told him: what is happening with me? Why can’t I feel sorrow? What is this peace?
The priest told him, that this is the result of the prayer of Jesus. He encouraged him to continue. He gave him a book, ‘the way of a pilgrim’. This person later found many books and now he is a monk."

http://www.trinitylight.net/prayer_heart_eng.html

I want to paste this to someone that is suicidal..

Is it okay for us beginners maybe to do this prayer?

Hey everybody,

I was reading 1 Corinthians 5 and there are a couple verses that I didn't understand.

"For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed." - 1 Cornthians 5:3

This verse says that St. Paul has judged people who are sexually immoral. Aren't we told not to judge other people? So why is St. Paul judging other people?

"But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner - not even to eat with such a person." - 1 Corinthians 5:11

In this verse, St. Paul is basically telling us to stay away from sinful people. Aren't we supposed to reach out to the sinful people? Jesus ate with sinful people, so why are we being told not to eat with sinful people?

Thanks in advance for your answers and God bless.

Matt 24:34 seems to say that these events will all take place in the disciples lifetime/generation. What is it really saying? I'm a bit confused. Thanks guys.

In a small town, there were two Coptic Churches. Let's call them A and B.
I attended the pre-servents meeting in Church A.

THey said the following:

Joseph, the son of Jacob, Pharoah's wife wanted to commit adultary with him. Joseph said "How can I commit this sin before the Lord?". The 10 commandments came after joseph. So who told joseph it was a sin? Church A said it was the Holy Spirit that was with Joseph, that told him it was wrong.

Strangly enough, i went to Church B [10 km away], and they were discussing the SAME very topic within the same 2 week period as when Church A were talking about this subject: They said however, it wasnt the Holy Spirit. It was well known that adultary was wrong. Not everything is mentioned in the Bible, and this is an example of Spiritual Tradition: Things were passed on orally. They knew it was wrong, yet it wasnt written down.

Now, there were no overweight people in that Church for me to determine whether or not they were true Orthodox or not. What Church do you think is right??

Ok here is my question what is the point of confession to your sins to another man who is a sinner too>I understand talkin with a priest about problems and askin for prayer. But my thing is why use a middle man when you can go to jesus and the father and lay you sins down at his feet and ask for forgiveness and just cut out the middle man for the priest can not forgive you onley jesus can. Also where in the bible does it say to confess to a priest. Not tryin to offend just want to understand.thanks and god bless. :)

I have a really burning question:

I was in Egypt during lent, and I heard this priest discuss fasting in a youth meeting: He asked us all why did our Lord fast for 40 days and 40 nights? Why wasn't it 50 days ? why not 20 ?? Why did He only fast 40??

Then, he gave us the answer: Christ fasted 40 days and 40 nights because that was the most that was done before Him. The priest gave a very good reasoning why Christ didnt fast more than 40 days because it would have meant that He did MORE than what was humanly possible for us to do. [Now, i'm not the best at explaining, but that was the jist of what he said, and i think everyone gets the picture].

My question is this:

Why then do we, as Coptic Orthodox fast for 40 days and 40 nights PLUS: One week BEFORE lent starts, PLUS ONE week after lent : that means we fast a total of 54 days and nights. That's more than what Jesus Christ did. Why? Why the extra week???

Now... for those who's name starts with I and ends in qbal [WHOEVER u ALL may be, and i'm NOT mentioning any names], this is a simple honest question that requires a simple answer. Its not an attack against the Coptic Church, neither is it a subliminal message that deep deep down i'm protestant.

Thanks

Are all bad thoughts that pass through a persons mind sins?

Also what if you remember something that happend one day or someone .. e.g remembering a beautiful woman.. would a pure hearted male remember this woman or would he not even remember her because he is occupied with God and his business and God's will?.. If it is not a sin to remember this woman (maybe it is not since maybe satan reminds him) would it be a sin to take delight in remembering her even if he is not undressing her in his mind? (maybe not as it may not be a sin to take delight in remembering a nice flower.. or do you think even that might be a sin? waste of time? or maybe because God is not involved?)

I think sometimes it might be satan reminding a person of this woman but do you think maybe the person himself may remind himself? how do you know if it is yourself or satan?

What if a person remembers a sexually attractive woman who was mean to him but he does not undress her in his mind? would the remembrance in this case be a sin? or maybe satan reminds this person of her?..what if a person likes the attention he gets from her even if it is her being mean to him?

I hope I make some sense atleast..
