As Jesus stepped into the garden, you were in his
prayers. As Jesus
looked into heaven, you were in his vision. As
Jesus dreamed of the
day when we will be where he is, he saw you
there.

His final prayer was about you. His final pain
was for you. His final
passion was you.

He steps into the garden, and invites Peter,
James, and John to come.
He tells them his soul is “overwhelmed with
sorrow to the point of
death,” and begins to pray.

Never has he felt so alone. What must be done,
only he can do. An
angel can’t do it. No angel has the power to
break open hell’s gates.
A man can’t do it. No man has the purity to
destroy sin’s claim. No
force on earth can face the force of evil and
win—except God.

“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak,”
Jesus confesses.

His humanity begged to be delivered from what his
divinity could see.
Jesus, the carpenter, implores. Jesus, the man,
peers into the dark
pit and begs, “Can’t there be another way?”

Did he know the answer before he asked the
question? Did his human
heart hope his heavenly father had found another
way? We don’t know.
But we do know he asked to get out. We do know he
begged for an exit.
We do know there was a time when if he could
have, he would have
turned his back on the whole mess and gone away.

But he couldn’t.

He couldn’t because he saw you. Right there in
the middle of a world
which isn’t fair. He saw you cast into a river of
life you didn’t
request. He saw you betrayed by those you love.
He saw you with a
body which gets sick and a heart which grows
weak.

He saw you in your own garden of gnarled trees
and sleeping friends.
He saw you staring into the pit of your own
failures and the mouth of
your own grave.

He saw you in your Garden of Gethsemane—and he
didn’t want you to be
alone.

He wanted you to know that he has been there,
too. He knows what it’s
like to be plotted against. He knows what it’s
like to be confused.
He knows what it’s like to be torn between two
desires. He knows what
it’s like to smell the stench of Satan. And,
perhaps most of all, he
knows what it’s like to beg God to change his
mind and to hear God
say so gently, but firmly, “No.”

For that is what God says to Jesus. And Jesus
accepts the answer. At
some moment during that midnight hour an angel of
mercy comes over
the weary body of the man in the garden. As he
stands, the anguish is
gone from his eyes. His fist will clench no more.
His heart will
fight no more.

The battle is won. You may have thought it was
won on Golgotha. It
wasn’t. You may have thought the sign of victory
is the empty tomb.
It isn’t. The final battle was won in Gethsemane.
And the sign of
conquest is Jesus at peace in the olive trees.

For it was in the garden that he made his
decision. He would rather
go to hell for you than go to heaven without you.

Hi,
I've heard some stories about some man calling himself the New Pope of the Coptic Church. Its been troubling me for a long time since i heard of this. Its a sad situation. Can anyone tell me what's going on? what the news is exactly? I hear that his main parish is apparently in Muqattam. This is a Coptic orthodox Monastery; how could he be given a Church there?? How did he end up with anything there?? How could Christian Copts be so stupid to end up as part of his congregation???

I attended a lecture once where they were discussing the martyrs of the Coptic Church during the reign of emporor Diocletion. The man speaking said :" ... the suffering of the Church was nothing compared to what was to follow during the schisms of the Church after Saint Constantine". I tend to see his point. I think the Coptic Church has suffered enormously throughout the ages, but it has always been united. This is a gross and disgusting attempt from the devil to attack us from within. And at a time when His Holiness is not feeling well.. How low of this man!!!!

I go to a catholic church once in a while, but whenever i tell them that i'm Coptic Orthodox, they're so amazed, and seem to welcome me more. Its a priviledge to the Coptic Orthodox. The Coptic Church is unique unlike any other Christian denomination. We're respected the world over for our zealousness in keeping the apostolic faith and spiritual traditions.

Our Pontiff is the See of Saint Mark; you can't get better than that!! How can some moron come along and ordain himself as a Pope; who the heck ordained him anyway? Mikey Mouse??

Dear All:

I'm aware that the Coptic Orthodox Church has forbidden any visits/pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Why is that? Also, is it visits to the Holy Land that are prohibited or pilgrimage? I mean, is going to say Jerusalem on business allowed, but going there to pray in any of the Churches not allowed?

I'd really like to know why? I understand that we are not in communion with other western orthodox Churches, but this prohibition seems to be more to it than just that. For example, we are not in communion with the Catholic Churches, but many many Copts (priests even) still go to "sight see" some interesting catholic places. Apparently, there are even some catholic Churches that have orthodox relics of Saints that we share in common with them.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

In today s ministry and in deed the past, what is the essence of speaking in tongues?
To what degree does it influence our communication to God?
How and where did it all begin spiritually and to what extent does this connect to scriptural teachings.
As kids during Easter in my village I had witnessed some faithful after long seclusions and prayers fall into a trance like situation and worshiped God with all seriousness and attention. This was a nice period and it was ok I believe.
But today, the situation is like a pastor at a sign will instruct the congregation to speak in tongues at which all will start making some noise [ noise because listeners do not understand and in most cases the persons uttering the sounds]
About 3 yrs ago a friend [ spent 5yrs in same class and were in school choir together in secondary school 1979/84] confided in me that he had cried and felt rejected because he failed when their pastor asked them to speak in tongues.
The pastor had warned that whoever failed was a sinner.
My friend ‘s junior brother had asked him why he was sad; that he [junior ] only spoke in his mother dialect and it was fine with the pastor!

Basically I need some help from you guys and God, but to be frank I'm not sure what kind of help.

I guess the best thing to do would be to start with my problems;
Essentially, I have arrived at the choice of Coptic Christianity after much spiritual searching, and it has felt right for most of the time I've been "believing" in it, and I thought I'd discovered the truth. However, lately I've been feeling huge doubts, and I don't know what to do to counter them, I've tried asking for God to help me in my disbelief as someone suggested earlier when I mentioned this issue a while back. However, after trying this, it feels like I'm avoiding the issue, and it feels like I don't, deep down inside, feel confident when I say "I believe Lord, help me in my disbelief".

Also, I have the problem of grasping the concept of Hell. While I can accept God's Judgement is eternal, and that "His ways are Higher than [our] ways", I cannot get my head around how Hell, an eternal seperation from our Father, and eternal punishment, can be fair. It just boggles my mind, that for example, some people who truely believe they are following God how he wants them to, but then likely end up in Hell. I'm not saying I doubt the Judgement of God is fair, rather I'm having trouble getting my head around it, and hope perhaps someone can answer this.

Also, on the topic of Hell, I have heard Hell is seperation of God, but how can man, or anything at all for that matter, exist apart from God? Isn't He the "Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End"? How can someone exist without God?

Also, how come there are so many people so adamant they are correct in their faith, such as Jews and Muslims who will be punished? I realise that some are probably their religion out of pride or want, but what about those that genuinely believe what they follow?

I pray someone can answer these problems as they are really giving me trouble

Would God ever speak to one, nowadays, concerning their eternal life revealing to them His Heavenly foreknowledge concerning the matter of whether they would be saved or not? Would the devil ever trick anybody into believing that he/she will be saved in order to make them fall into spiritual delusion or spiritual laziness, or is this surely the voice of God? Could it be true that God would speak to one saying that he will be condemned eternally, to try to make them attain one of the heavenly virtues or to try one or worse yet speak to one like this in truth, or is that surely the voice of the devil?
Hi every body,at these good days I wanna speak about Demas .
and I wanna thank my dear friend Peter for help me at the translation God be with him.

Demas

Barabas, Demas, and Justace-Amachos…These were the names of the sinful thieves amongst whom Jesus was numbered. He was crucified with the later two instead of Barabas. Jesus was crucified with Dimas on His right and Justace-Amachos on His left. In the beginning of the scene, we see blasphemy and damnation from both Demas and Justace, as told by Mark the Evangelist, “And those who were crucified with Him reviled Him” (Mark 15:32). But suddenly the event took a whole new path. Demas was shocked to hear Christ say “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:31). What is this immeasurable amount of love from You on the cross? You ask for their forgiveness as they are crucifying You? Instantly, Demas began to sense the greatness of the One crucified with him. In the meantime, Justace was blaspheming Jesus saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us” (Luke 23:39). What is this cruelty Justace? Do you only care about escaping from the cross, don’t you think of escaping hell? Where you will end up? Didn’t you think of the One crucified whom you reviled and mocked? Didn’t you think of the injustice and insults against this innocent Man? At this point, we observe Demas sensing Justace’s cruelty and he rebuked him saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong” (Luke 23:40). Then Demas looked to Christ and the two had the greatest silent conversation and discussion by exchanging looks until Demas believed in the divinity of Jesus Christ and ended the conversation with his great saying, “Remember me O Lord when You come into Your kingdom”. And this was the first request from Demas, obeying the commandment he had never heard: “Ask first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you”. And here we see Demas as a great example for resisting hopelessness. O Demas, you did not despair against death and you understood the message of Christ to you and gained the kingdom in the last moment of your life and became the first to enter paradise, so remember us before the divine throne, o you who stole the kingdom of heaven. And now, my friend, are you Demas or Justace-Amachos?
God bless.

I was wondering if anybody is absolutely sure what these verses mean. It is from 1 Peter 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." Does it mean that the people who these verses are talking about have been granted, by God, their eternal salvation and their eternal life in Heaven forever and for all eternity? What exactly is this inheritance? Will this inheritance be in Heaven forever and for all eternity? When one recieves this inheritance will he/she be in Heaven forever and for all eternity?

Please pray for me always,
Believer in God

I read and heard sermons (by The Late Bishop Gregorious) that the Nicen council changed the name of the Apostles Fast from the "Fast of the Pentecost" to "the Apostoles Fast". I can't figure out which canon of the Nicen canons that was. If you have a reference to the Canon No, web site, or a book that has this information please let me know. I know that some of the "Arabic" very old church history/rite books do mention this, but non-of-which mention which canon it is.

Any help will be great.
Thank you and God Bless

i have pondered this question for quite some time. i think i found the anwser in the BIBLE ,but i would like to review it with u . i asked many times why we have to stand up before God and tell him what we want when he already knows
matthw 6:7-9
"and when you pray do not keep on babbling like pagans, for tyhey think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not not be like them for your father knows what you need before you ask him" This also tells me that wht we do..... pray for hours or repeating things is not that necessary. please tell me if i understood somrething wrong
also
[color=Black]Matthew 6:9
"This then is how you should pray: Our father who art in hevean.."ectThis tells me that this is all we have to say, do it and read the Bible ,then we are set? seems too easy compared to what wwe do

please respond
luv
mary

The grave yard is viewed differently from community to community.
One common thing about it is the fear and serenity it instills in the mind of the living.
Yet, like dead which all must experience, the luckiest amongst the living get to be buried by family, friends, colleagues or society in this resting place.
My question is what happens from the time we take the last breath, to the time we are taken to the grave and in the grave up to the day when man shall be called to account for his deeds in this world?
