Hey everyone,

I have a question on Genesis chapters 4 and 5.

In Genesis 4:16-17, it says, "Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the East of Eden. And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son-Enoch."

My question is where did Cain's wife come from? As far as i know, at the time of Cain, there was only Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel living on Earth. Where did Cain's wife come from?

Similarly, at the end of chapter 4, it says that Adam and Eve gave birth to a third son to take place of their 2 lost sons (Cain and Abel), and his name is Seth. Then, in the beginning of chapter 5, it says that Seth begot Enosh. Who was Seth's wife? Where did she come from?

well

i serve in church and i gave the lesson today. the topic was about Elisha (2Kings) heres a quick summary;

so we talked of Naaman the Leper who was healed by Elisha after he told him to wash seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman had bought gifts (Gold and silver and clothing) for Elisha but Elisha did not accept these and instead asked him to give a sacrifice to God.

Elisha's servant - student named Gehazi saw the gifts and was overcome by greed and ran after Naaman on his way home and told him that he will take the gifts and give them to Elisha, but instead took them himself.

so when Elisha found out he made Gehazi a leper and all his children and family and his childrens children etc will inherit that disease.

so the children asked me why does Naaman children and family also contract the disease when they themselves did not sin and are innocent of what Naaman did??

so how should i answer?
my friend's theory on predestination

Hey everyone,

So I have this friend of mine that has a very philosophical mind, and he makes a lot of very well thought out arguments about life. He has this one argument about predestination, and his conclusion does not agree with Christianity, but it makes a lot of sense.

So, his argument is that every single thing in our entire lives, and all our choices that we make in our lives, and who we are right now is predestined. He says that what happens to you in your life shapes who you are, and who you are will decide what you do when an event occurs and how you react to it.
Who you are is predestined because where you're born is obviously predestined, and since the environment/family/friends shapes your personality, then your personality is predestined. So, you don't get to choose any of your beliefs or how you think. And, if we don't choose who we are, and if who we are is what we use to get through the day, then we don't have any choice in our lives.
So, since no one had any choice on who they are going to be in their lives, then they should not be held responsible for their actions. So, those who sin should not be held responsible for their sins. Everyone is as equal as everyone else, and no one can be judged, and no one is wrong, and no one is right.

This is his argument. Now, I know that the Bible says that predestination exists, but does it exist to this extent?

Thank You

However, I was taught that the more related the parents are, the greater the chances that the offspring will be deformed. So, wouldn't the fact that brothers and sisters had relations with each other mean that their offspring were really deformed?

HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE

As I was walking down life's
highway many years ago
I came upon a sign that read
Heavens Grocery Store.

When I got a little closer
the doors swung open wide
And when I came to myself
I was standing inside.

I saw a host of angels.
They were standing everywhere
One handed me a basket and said
"My child, shop with care."

Everything a human needed
was in that grocery store
And what you could not carry
you could come back for more.

First I got some Patience.
Love was in that same row.
Further down was Understanding,
you need that everywhere you go.

I got a box or two of Wisdom
and Faith a bag or two.
And Charity, of course,
I would need some of that, too.

I couldn't miss the Holy Ghost
It was all over the place.
And then some Strength and Courage
to help me run this race.

My basket was getting full but
I remembered I needed Grace,
And then I chose Salvation for
Salvation was for free
I tried to get enough of that to do for you and me.

Then I started to the counter
to pay my grocery bill,
For I thought I had everything
to do the Masters will.

As I went up the aisle I saw
Prayer and put that in,
For I knew when I stepped outside
I would run into sin.

Peace and Joy were plentiful,
the last things on the shelf.
Song and Praise were hanging near
so I just helped myself.

Then I said to the angel
"How much do I owe?"
He smiled and said
"Just take them everywhere you go."

Again I asked "Really now,
how much do I owe?"
"My child " he said,
"God paid your bill a long, long time ago."
