Hi everyone,
I haven't had much of a chance to post or read on Tasbeha much lately, but I was just looking through tonight, and remember some questions I was looking for answers for, and thought I'd seek some answers on a particularly troubling issue from you guys.

Basically, as you all know, God declares various covenants with different people or groups at different times throughout the Bible - and presently I'm particularly interested in some of the ones declared in the earlier parts of the Old Testament.

At various points, particularly withing Exodus, God declares a covenant with the Israelites(are the Israelites mentioned here akin to Jews?) - for example;

Exodus 31:16-17

Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath, through their generations, as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in 6 days the LORD made the heavens and on the seventh he rested and was refreshed

Declarations of the covenant above imply with them that God will maintain this covenant forever - does this mean the children of Israel(The Jews?) are still God's people? I've been quite troubled on this issue for a bit now, and any answers would be appreciated.

hello,
i asked this question under a different topic, but i got no answers just yet, so i'm making a new topic for it cause i'm soooo confused bout this.

ok, first lemme lay down some facts first that abouna disscussed at a bible study before:
1. Once a person dies, he/she knows where they are going.... heaven or hell. if they are going to heaven, angels come and take them to the third heaven and they see Jesus, st. Mary, etc... but they don't see the "seventh heaven" and the place that no eye has seen or an ear has heard... if they are going to hell, they go to hell right away, and they will be thron into the fire right away. I have two stories that i can share that would pove the two directions if you like
2. In the second coming, we all will take a new body. The ppl that are going to heaven, they take a body that will bare the glory of god. and the ppl that are going to hell, they take a body that will not vanish from a couple of hours in the burning fire. I also have two stories that would prove this...

NOW, if everyone knows where they are going, whats the point of judgement day then?? in the bible, it says, that god will judge every one based on their actions/deeds, but we already know where we are going once we die??

when do we take this new body??? it looks as though we take it right away, but that doesn't go with what the bible says???

maybe for the ppl that will be living during the second coming, as abouna says, they will experience death, and resurrection all the same moment, so then they will take the new body??

i'm sooooo confused about this!!!
any help would be nice plz
thanks

We always mention the Holy Spirit, but never pray to the Holy Spirit.
So that's what it is!!! LOL!

I was in a Catholic prayer meeting and this girl started praying with this same thing. Indeed, she started saying "shakalal...". It was so distracting from the prayers I tried to pray myself, but in the end, I ended up praying for her...lol.

If this is what "speaking in tongues" is to these people, I honestly think there is a demon behind this. Prayers are not supposed to be spontaneous and hysterical and non-self-control, but of peace. I guess, for one thing, it's a relief to see some "bored" people in Church (although sad), so as to see that prayer is not effected by some hysteria, but truly by the work of the Holy Spirit in you. And the Holy Spirit is full of wisdom and intelligence!!

When the apostles could talk in tongues this was actual "tongues" / i.e. known languages [greek, coptic, hebrew, latin, chinese, arabic etc where words were used to carry intelligent information from transmission of the mouth to reception by the ear.] - what makes people think that they can somehow talk another language that they don't even understand? And it ruins praying together. All of sudden we're standing there, praying for world peace, and then boum: shahalalallalalal comes out of their mouths... and then there's no peace. I'm trying to stop myself from laughing... but now its just getting annoying: I just wanna say : "Look love: If you cant say anything intelligent, then keep a lid on it".

This stuff is weired. I HAVE to go to this Catholic Church as there are no Coptic Churches in the City i live in.

Someone PLEASE PLEASE tell me what i can say to these people to make them aware that saying jibberish is not COOL!!!

Thanks

God bless.

When we are born are we born with ADAMS SIN, or are we born with the NATURE of SIN, or both? Before, I thought it was nature of sin, because adam when eating from the tree of knowledge inherited this nature of sin, and as a punishment all mankind would now be born with this nature. WHat my class said was that not only was every man born with the nature of sin, but was also born with ADAMS original sin which was disobeying God. I feel that is wrong because how are we to be judged by the sins of someone else, we are to be judged by our actions. However, im so confused, the teacher said it was both, but I really dont even know anymore.

For example, let's say you have a gambling problem, but you are trying really hard to stop gambling. Then, you see your friend gambling for the first time. Do you give him advice on not gambling in order to help him, or is this considered judging, and would be considered hypocritical?

Hey everyone, i go to a Christian school and they are soooooo different to us. The differences are:

You just have to believe and youll be saved
YOu dont have to Confess, Baptise or anything like that.

They dont take the bible as seriously as us.
Just wondering, if these people call themselves christians and believe they are going to be with God in the paradise and they dont practise most of what the bible says how will they enter, but they still believe they will enter.

Since the three distinc persons of the Holy Trinity cannot exist without each other or they won't be called a one God...so that means during the three days between cruicifixtion and resurrection, when Jesus died....there was no God?...I don't really get how that can be. Jesus died a normal human death right?
I get the Trinity concept but I don't get how one person from this concept can't exist and there is still a God?
